Week 6 Marlboro's Questions 26 through 30

Good evening all
I want to thank all of you for passing on your answers and rationale to the
past questions. Been doing a little bit of research and just thought I'd pass this along.
Let me know what you think.
I only have 478 points through q.20, but I am researching as best I can
and hoping I can be of some help to you.

27. James

A U.S. Marshal is spelled with only ONE L, so Marlboro is looking for a person named Marshall. James Wilson Marshall is the man who discovered gold (the big payoff) in California. This brought so many people to the area so fast it was called a RUSH. The sheer number of people also came before a foundation of LAW and ORDER could get set up, hence law and order went by the wayside because of the possible BIG PAYOFF after MARSHALL started the gold RUSH.

28 A. Arizona is the state,
verify through http://i.imgur.com/OgpPc.jpg due to the sheer number of items in the complete pic found on that site.

28 B. THIS answer is NOT verified!!I could only find what I believe to be 14 of the 16 OFFICIAL state symbols. (Be careful, one website shows only 15, but they do not list the Az. state motto: Ditat Deus, estb. in 1864. The website showing all but the Motto is:

http://www.netstate.com/states/symb/az_symb.htm

Here is the list and where I found them in the pic, or believe to have found them.
If you see something I may have missed please let me know.

Amphibian: Arizona Tree Frog. Halfway down the keychain in silver.

Alternate Anthem Name: Arizona. On the postmark on the postcard
(This one's an educated guess)

Bird: Cactus Wren, (campylor hynchus): Top left corner of the clock's clear plastic face-frame in silver. (I cannot get a high-enough resolution with my equipment to be sure of this, however, if you compare the silver figure on the top left to the one on the bottom left of the clock face, you'll clearly see they are different! This, coupled to the shape of the one on top, compelled me to guess it to be the Wren.)

Butterfly: Two-tailed Swallowtail (Papilio Multicaudata) On the top of a small silver statuette just to the left of the plates on the ledge of the window between the cafe's main area and the kitchen. It is 'flying' above the RINGTAIL CAT who is on it's hind legs swatting at it. Again, an educated guess due to the resolution, but was confident enough to commit to it.)

Colors: Federal Blue and Gold: The main colors of DAN'S CREATIONS flyer on the top right section of the bulletin board.

Fish: Apache Trout (oncorhynchus gilae apache) Top left of the picture, in it's own frame.

Flower: Saguaro Cactus Blossum:(Cereus giganteus). Again, this one's an educated guess due to resolution. In the sunrise/sunset pic on the bulletin board, the white spots in the lower middle are large enough to be Saguaro blossoms.

Fossil: Petrified Wood. The advertisement on DAN'S CREATIONS postcard on the bulletin board.

Gemstone: Turqouise. On the right side of the bulletin board, as the ornate clasp on the BOLA TIE.

Mammal: Ringtail Cat (bassariscus astutus) See BUTTERFLY above.

Motto: Ditat Deus. Words in the center of the clock in the upper right section pf picture.

Neckware: Bola Tie. See Gemstone above.

Reptile: Arizona Ridge-nosed Rattlesnake (Crotalus willardi willardi) In it's own pic to the right of the bulletin board.

Tree: Blue Palo Verde (Genus cercedium) On the menu laying on the counter in the lower right-center of the pic.

I did not find the Great Seal, and do not believe it to be on the business license, as it's design inside the circle looks nothing like the Great Seal to me.

Also, I did not see the Flag.

30. Sacramento, Thursday. (Just a guess)The morse code message was spelling out this clue: DIT AND DASH MADE (it comes out mane in the translation, but since I believe Marlboro is using a copy of the original transmisssion, and the operator could have simply goofed on one letter, I'm using a little poetic license here) THE SERVICE CREATED BY THE COCPPEXCO OLD NEWS. IN WHAT CITY AND ON WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK WAS THE FINAL DROP MADE?

First, the Anagram COCPPEXCO stands for Central Overland California & Pike's Peak Express Company, which was a Pony Express company. The invention of the Telegraph and Morse code rendered the Pony express obsolete on Saturday, October 26th, 1861, but the FINAL DROP of mail and cargo already in the system was not until a Thursday in November in Sacramento
Hope this helps
Chet
