Most Popular Poster Tournament
This will be a series of bracket style polls to help determine who is the most popular poster on this board. But your participation is optional because I respect your dignity. So if you'd like to sign up reply to this post saying you want in by December 25th 2010. (The deadline may be extended if there's a shortage of entrants) Then after that polls will be posted weekly for anyone to vote on. May the best poster win!
Oh and sorry Mr. Conners but you are banned, because then I think it would be a no contest.

I say it is a four way contest between Jim, Cub, Jen, and Fred...
Quite possibly in that order, but I suppose it is in the eye of the beholder...

Cub is among one of the more intelligent posters of the board, that along with his talent in graphics and film editing makes me proud to say I know him, even if it is only virtually...

How has Cub contributed and stood out? For things like this....
http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/mess ... p=213#p213 .
For Lombard Street Audio
For hosting a secondary Tex board when this site was having problems.
For running a wonderful long standing Tex Murphy fan site.
For keeping all the sound files for the soundtrack and other Tex goodies secure on his own website.
For starting the very first Tex Murphy Contest, and kindly allowing me to carry the torch onto others, there are MANY people on this site that have autographed Tex goodies due to him starting this tradition.
And his tradition of Cub pulling!!!
And Jim? Not only for his Tex books, but his kindness on helping so many people with hints, helping people get access to Tex books, or games who couldn't otherwise.
For starting the very first and wonderful Fan Fiction. The Overseer novelization.
For always having a warm welcoming hand for anyone that joined our little family.
And for being a wonderful friend.
As for myself...sure I'll toot my own horn.
I tried to keep the Tex Murphy hopes alive through Fan Fiction, through running contests, donating considerable time and $$$ for the prizes in the contests.
And for purchasing and keeping safe TexMurphy.com.
There are others too, Demonlawyer for the Tex Calendars and making the ebooks possible.
Sam for the newest collaborative fan fiction, and James for making this site and holding it together after all these years. And of course Aaron the banned guy himself. Without his affection for a bunch a crazy kids, few of us would be here today.
There have been a myriad of people that have given back to the Tex community, and I am proud to think of each of them as a friend, and to know that I am a member of that circle.

I'm just a frequent poster. I wouldn't say I have anything serious to add, though. But I am glad that I'm allowed to come here and shoot the breeze with you fine, upstanding citizens of the world. It is quite liberating. Not to mention it's a good feeling, knowing I have friends from all over the world.
So thanks Baf for thinking of me, but it's down to Jim, Jen and Cub.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
It's not about what people have to Add... The name of the topic is just "Most Popular" not "Biggest Contributor"... If it were the latter than it would be James just for having the board along with all of its bells and whistles... Popularity boils down to who is most well liked and if someone says "The Tex Murphy Messaging Board" besides Tex, Aaron, and Chris, who comes to your mind first...

I'm sorry, but am I the only one that thinks this is not a good idea? We're not in high school anymore.
We are all here for many reasons. To guague eachother's popularity is definitely not one of them. Tyring to do so may only hurt the feelings of those who are (in my opinion) as equally integral to the heart of this community regardless of their frequency of posts, participation or contribution. And to try and compare people in such a blunt fashion would never do this community any justice. I can agree there are some unique characters in this community that are noteworthy for any array of reasons, but I am happy to keep it at that.

It may seem like fun in the beginning but once the end came you could end up with some sore feelings... Possibly not from this gang, but it's kind of like Religion and Politics when you get into it...

Well I tried to continue the quotefest but it says I can only embed 3, so you're going to have to settle for 3. Yes we can all be a happy family I just thought some people like myself might be curious in knowing. Seeing as how this post has evolved here are my picks in no particular order.Bafitis wrote:I'll third it...Cubase wrote:Seconded.GarySogar wrote:

If someone is ignoring one of your posts you can always count on him to reply to it. He also helped me in dealing with a probable scammer
Jen
I don't think I was aware she was the one who saved the texmurphy domain from being snatched so that gets some props. I also liked it when she replied to me vidphone style to one of my questions in a video.
Jim
For what I said. I also plan on checking out the Overseer novel he wrote that got put up on Ebay sometime. I don't really know him on a personal level.
Fred
For some of his witty remarks
Sam
For her riddles and she's also reply friendly.
James
Although this technically isn't posting, for allowing us to do pretty much what we want with this board and for putting up with some of my antics.
And one from the distant past, Matthew Buckstein.
It was really his Alcatraz site that introduced me to the Tex Murphy community. Alcatraz also had a cool contest on it called Capricorn where you had to guess where screenshots were from, from the Tex Murphy games that got discontinued along with the site. He also made Day 1 of a Tex Murphy freeware game called the Nano War that I really wish would have gotten followed up.
Btw I also hated high school politics!
