The Time Machine-put your thinking caps on
On TCM today is an old favorite of mine, and some of you too, called The Time Machine with Rod Taylor. The movie ended with Taylor going back to the future - gee, that would be a great name for a movie some day - and his maid and his friend noticed he had taken 3 books with him. Noticing his extensive library, I've often wondered which books?
So then, if YOU went into a future society like the one Taylor went to, what 3 books would you take and why?
Keep in mind this fact: He went back to a group of people who had no real purpose in life, had been fed by a cannibalistic race, enjoyed seemingly ideal weather conditions, and apparently had little or no concern for the life of others.
I am most interested in your answers. No prizes given but I am certain we shall all be delighted with each others' posts. Please try to keep it serious - that means you Fred! j/k

"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
If I were taking books, I wouldn't be able to go anywhere without Lord Of The Rings...
People with no real purpose in life, I guess I would take along a Bible, even though I don't really believe in religion myself I have to admit that it does have quite the following and it might give the people a purpose and some direction in their lives...
I don't suppose I could take a Kindle or a Nook with a virtual library already installed on them... No that would be cheating...
hmmm Third??? How about the Encyclopedia, yeah that could be of some use...

I would bring Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land, Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, and the collected works of William Shakespeare.
