How many PI rules came with the book, how many did Tex add, how many were shown in the game, how many of those were Buck and Harley's and how many were Tex additions?

BTW, I just wanted to see how many views this thread got owing to its title.

I don't know Jim. Hardcore sex scenes may have been a little inappropriate for the game. Though I probably wouldn't have complained. But how much is to much is a good question, that I don't have the answer for.

There were 20 questions in the book originally. Tex added 17, making the total number 37.

I believe Tex referenced four rules in the game, whereas three of them were shown as a cut-over with Tex pointing his finger in pronunciation.

I also know there's a slight aberration in which are Tex' and which are original rules. Something about one of Tex' rules being shown as original rules or vice versa, I think.

The ones I remember are:

"Don't Fall in Love with a Client"
and
"Never Take Rides From Strangers"

That's all I got off the top of my head.

Just to get an extra point I was going to say what Fred said and add that there were two rules where the numbers overlapped, between TPD and Overseer I think.

Didn't Tex add a Rule about Fireballs, if you were unfortunate to have to repeat the Mayan chamber???

I'll have to replay it, because I've only been hit by the Fireballs twice in the whole time I've played the game...
Now falling into the lava is a different story...

I still find it funny that Tex blames either his clumsiness or the worn tread on his sneakers, but when you see him with Regan he has Cowboy Boots on...

You guys did pretty good! Fred is right - 20 with the book and 17 added by Tex.

The three from the book (in Overseer) were:
#1 Never fall for a client

#17 Never upset a client

#2 Hide from people with guns

And Tex's own #24: Don't take rides from strangers.

Now, some of you, Baf specifically, mentioned some alluded to in Pandora, so I will have to check that out for myself.

It may not be a PI Rule, he may have just used the saying "As a rule I try to avoid flying fireballs" or something like that...

I haven't been hit by one of the fireballs in at least 10 years... So even though I have photographic memory, there are the 3% of things that fall through the cracks... But 97% of nearly perfect memory has been of some benefit to me over the years...

The first time I entered the fireball room I felt like Tex. Sheesh! What a cool, er, hot, experience! Lots of fun getting through that room.

I'm partial to rule 34 myself.

Well if rule #1 is never fall for a client, then the great Colonel himself was wrong:

Colonel Dobbs: "Because apparently you never learned the first rule of a PI. You never, EVER betray your friends. Now friendship goes beyond blood and race and politics. You find out who your friends are, AND YOU HOLD ONTO THEM. They're a precious commodity to folks like you and me."

Don't as me how I remember that line. I think I just liked the way it was delivered. But I think that when the Colonel referred to it as the "first" rule, he meant it as an unofficial rule, and not one that was actually in 'Harley Fenwicks Official Rules for a PI'.

Oh and Jim, I don't think it was Tex's own rule for #24 (don't take rides from strangers) becuase remember in that scene where him and Chelsee were in Dalton's car. An image of him pointing to that actual rule in the book was superimposed on the vision.

Well, Cub, that is very interesting but it was Tex who said the book came with 20 and he added 17. Now, normally, I would think the 20 would be numbered consecutively. Thus, 24 should have been inserted by Tex. The game designers may have used the same pattern when Tex saw it in his mind.

OK, now I am a bit embarassed at this next question, so please forgive my ignorance. What is rule 34 that Jen likes so much?
