Uncharted: The Movie

So there's going to be an Uncharted movie coming out now, with Mark Whalburg as Nathan Drake. Somehow someone decided that would be a better choice than Nathan Fillian, but whatever.

Now they've got Joe Pesci on as Uncle Sal. Joe Pesci! It's like the casting director was given the character names and nothing else. Friggin' Hollywood producers are on their way to making yet another bad video game based movie, I tell you what.

Interesting, I thought Joe Pesci had actually retired from acting.
Actors are never retired unless they're dead...

Joe Pesci is still a very funny guy...

Pesci is awesome! I hate to think of the idea of him being retired. I've been waiting for him to do some new work for some time. Personally, I would have preferred his talents go toward something like another Scorsese or Lethal Weapon film. I can't really see him as Sully, I would have thought they'd hire someone with a more "seasoned" adventurer vibe like Donald Sutherland, he's ideal for the role.
I am intrigued. I played and really liked the first game. I have limited gaming time, so the second one's in my queue to be played. The game is more or less movie-esque, so hopefully it won't take too much to convert it to the silver screen.
First, what kind of game is Unchartered? Adventure? RPG? Shooter?

Second, I think Wahlberg is turning into a fine actor and he has a promising career ahead of him. Does he fit the character in Unchartered? I have no idea, so I'll go with the general consensus. However, I also like Fillion. Isn't he the guy in the TV Castle series? If so, he's cool. He also starred in a movie called Serenity, a sci-fi flick that was pretty good. And we adore him and Kajic in Castle; good chemistry twix the two.

Third, Joe Pesci is really a cool actor. Again, I do not know if he would be proper for the character, but he IS a good actor. My fav of him is My Cousin Vinny. What a terrific movie!

I think some places classify it as an adventure game. I think of it as more of a platformer, which usually I'm not a huge fan of. But, I got the game free back when I bought my PS3 and ended up enjoying the game.
Jim,

Gameplaywise Uncharted is what everyone already did, but done well. Third person shooting and cover taking leads to third person climbing and jumping, which circles back to shooting and climbing.

Overall, Uncharted is like Indiana Jones, minus the whip and the fedora. Except, unlike Indiana Jones video games (with the exception of The Fate of Atlantis) the story is well written, along with it's characters. The second one was bigger, more explosive. A third one is on it's way.

Also, since you mention the film Serenity, do you know it's based on the tv show Firefly? If you liked the movie, watch the show!

Sounds like you are roughly describing Metal Gear...

The difference from Metal Gear:Nathan Drake can be stealthy, and the game rewards for it, but the focus is clearly on running and gunning.
