Well, I've got my copy of Amped 3, but it looks like I'm not going to be able to play it till after January. As there is nary a 360 to be found around here.

Interesting info inside though. Several of the Access folks contributed to Amped.

Here's hoping that there are cheat codes hidden inside the game, because there seems to be quite a bit of skill involved in order to explore all the story arcs.

I must get a copy of it! Even though I have never realy bought a snowboarding game before... but after watching my Sims play SSX-3 countless times in the Sims 2 I have developed a hankering.

I'm putting off buying the Xbox missile defense console. $500 for the worth-it version isn't as bad as the 3DO, but it's still bad. Especially since they seem to have borked the console launch.

I know that I'm going to buy it. I don't personaly own a Xbox360, but my friend does, and he will let me play it. Anyway, its for a good cause. Later.

Yes, I know, playing Amped 3. I'll follow my modus operandi and get it eventually.

sadly, i can't justify buying a console for 1 game.

I'll probably get a Revolution for the multiplayer games and unique genres

I'll probably upgrade my PC to keep with the current titles (shouldn't have to do that for a while though).

I've never really wanted an Xbox cause nothing overly appealed to me in the games market (that i couldn't get on another platform), and pretty much ditto on the 360.

Here's hoping sooner or later Amped 3 gets a port to another platform cause i'd at least like to see Aaron's hand in what was created.

Ive come to the conclusion that I will wait till each platform generation ends. That way I can get all the games I want for that platform for much cheeper. I just bought my X-box and only paid 50 for a used one.

The Elder Scrolls being probably the best RPG series ever conceived, and Oblivion is going to be only Xbox 360 and PC only... it looks amazing on Xbox 360 .

So good that even though I never liked RPGs nor played any before I am willing to buy this game because it has the potential to be the best game ever conceived! It's going to star Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean, just to name a few.

The main reason why I want to get a 360 is because of Oblivion, Halo 3 and a whole heap of games. Not to mention the 360 being such an advanced platform that it would cost me over $2000 worth of PC upgrades to be able to play the same games at acceptable quality on my PC.

While the Playstation 3 looks good, I don't think we are going to see nearly as many great titles on it as we will the 360... why: because the PS3 uses the new Cell processor technology, and even though it is a better technology it will cost developers in excess of $10 million to produce each title specifically for that processor.

Imagine, you have $10 million to produce a game... to build it for the X86 processor (Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution) it will cost $5 million, leaving another $5 million to complete polish the title giving you a great game that is no less than anything that can be produces o nthe Cell! Now you have the PS3... costing $10 million just to be able to develop the game for the cell processor, and your budget is already stretched... not to mention how much it would cost to develop games across all platforms!

Developers that have been at the head of the technological race for years have not yet seen the need for a complete overhaul to the Cell processor yet, and to them the PS3 is costing them money that could be spent in other areas, such as polishing, script and all that.

The PS3 is good in theory, but by the time the Cell processor becomes worth it, and Blue Ray technology becomes mainstream, and 1080p televisions become affordable, a new console will be on the scene anyway!

On a side note: if you think your current PC can handle the types of games the Xbox 360 or the PS3 can, think again. The Video processor in both platforms is better than anything on the market at the moment... and their processors (or their equivilant) have yet to be released on the PC market. If you want to keep up with the consoles, expect to pay over $2000 worth of upgrades... this includes at least a triple core processor, and at least 512mb of Video Card memory. ...actually... make that $4000 worth of upgrades!

Being a PC person, believe me when I say that I am not trying to push the consoles... this is the hard truth. Also beleive me when I say that more develoeprs would be interested in producing their titles for the Xbox 360 than any other platform.. to them, it is common and affordable sense.

As you said, 360 and PC. I'll be getting the PC version.

Also, Obvilion is a different kind of RPG to the kind the Playstation usually showcases.

And yeah, it seems that the PS3 having a seperate core or whatnot will hurt it in the cross platform section, but like Nintendo, i've found with the Playstations, their best games were for their console only.

In the end, i buy consoles because of the games. The above post was a predicition of what i probably would be buying and why, but we will wait and see.

For now, i got a huge backlog of PC, PS2, GC and DS/GBA games to get through ^^

I think i've been doing that by chance. My catalogue of PS2 and GC games has exponentially grown this year because of titles being cheap or going platinum or my finding pre-played versions.

I can't really justify buying more than one console really (hardly have time to play one ) so I think I may just stick to the Sony line (no particular reason other than its always had all the games I wanted to play and I'm mainly an RPG nut ). The odd one or two games come out on other platforms but the majority is the main thing... I know theres the whole thing about the processors but wait and see I guess My friend seems to get all of them though

Those are the basic specs

I usually aim to play games at medium detail so i've been blown away by my ability to play some of this year's games at above average graphic performance (such as Fear).

Seeing what Oblivion looks like, i might not get the performance i thought i would have out of it and that might require another upgrade, but these days a decent video card upgrade or more ram isn't too hard on the pocketbook.

True that... although the current top of the line graphics card (The Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX 512mb) seels for a nice and afffordable $1200 AUD! It's about $800-850 in the US.

My next upgrade will most likely be a complete overhaul costing me a fair few grand anyway... so hopefully it will be Oblivion ready... even though its main purpose would be as a workstation machine.

In the mid to late 90's, hardware lasted though many games... these days, each generation of games requires a new generation of technology... and I am down to med-low settings on new titles with my current setup. Sad... seeing as my video card (GeForce FX-5950 Ultra) cost me $750 in the hay-days.

1) PC components drop in price like crazy. Plus, anybody who pays that kind of prize when you can easily shave a third of the money off the top is going through life either totally blind or willfully ignorant in support of another choice.

2) Games have more options and better graphics on a PC over the course of the hardware's lifespan. Always.

3) The 360 costs somewhat less to develop for BECAUSE IT'S A DAMN PC WITH A FANCY CASE AND HARDWIRED PERIPHERAL SUPPORT. Activision hasn't had to do much more than port over their code and jack up prices. The question isn't production cost, because either way your AAA companies will be fine and your niche developers will fade from the map. The issue is are you Western or Eastern in your preference? That's always been the issue, always will be the issue, MS will continue to gain user base here and Sony will not EVER lose their big market to MS.

And seriously, you've already seen the diminishing returns. Except for some really ballsy third party titles, the Xbox library is being squandered on three or four genres with tons of repeats. Halo 2 was Halo 1 will be Halo 3.
