Overseer problem...

This is my first post here and I am glad I found this place. I have loved the Tex Muphy games for over 10 years now and just finally got Overseer up and running on XP.
Everything worked fine until I got to Gideon's gallery where I have to use the pole to get from the balcony to the light fixture. As soon as I use the pole, the program crashes and I get the famous XP error box.
Does anyone know what I could do to get past this? I cannot continue the game now. Does anyone have some saved game files that I could download and then continue the game past this point? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I think this can be solved by disabling the sound, until after the cutscene.
Good luck.

If you still need saved games to continue - send me an e-mail, and I will try to help you out.

Oh man, I still have the game on my hard drive from the last time I encountered this problem. Never heard the sound solution, but there were a few others about changing video settings, etc. It seems to all work out randomly, and I found on rare occasion that you could skip the bug without fiddling with anything.
Of course, that one time it happened, I accidentally fell to the floor and had to relad.
Forehead slap.

Those little glitches are the worst. I have a friend who played all three modern Tex games, but never finished one because they all kept crashing before the end.
Thank heavens we have a place like this to swap secrets now.

I hate it when people do that! I think some good computer problems are all part of the PC gaming experience!
Keeps the juices flowing!
