GOLD!

Hey,
I just recently shot a Documentary about how gold is made and thougth I'd
show you a few pics from it. I'm holding about a half a million dollars in my
hands. I tried to convince them to donate it towards the next Tex Murphy
game but they weren't gonna fall for that. I tried to make a break for it with
the bar but they are way heavier than you would think. Needless to say I
didn't make it too far.
BE WARNED if the pictures do not show up it's because geocities has a
hold on them for an hour because too many people viewed it and the
bandwith was used up for that hour. Try it again in a bit, it's annoying yes but it's all I have for the time being.

Very nice, ES. If you have any extra gold, I have a retirement fund that needs contributions.

Funny that such a small piece of metal is worth so much.
Probably most of us will never have the occasion to hold it in their hand ...
PS. Twenty gold bars, and we will have our new Tex game!

Fantastic pictures! They look amazing!!
I thought I read somewhere that much of the gold being used today is recycled and remelted from older gold. That we may have in our rings gold once used by the Romans or Egyptians.
Stu, since you are the expert... any validity to that statement??
Take care!

Thanks for the comments gang, I much appreciate it. Next time I'm out there
I will try to bring a trolly. We only need 20 bars eh? I think I can wing it.
They won't notice them missing I'm sure.
Now as for tech specs, I shot the Doc on 2 Panasonic DVCPro 615's and one
Sony Digital 8. As for editing it depends what I need done. Most likely it will
be Adobe Premiere and Final Cut, but I might need some AVID as well. I
really can't see why there is a huge love for AVID, it seems to be an aging
dinosaur in comparison to the other 2 gems. I will also be adding
animation via 3D Studio Max, and using Photoshop for simple FX. Music
will probably be made in Soundtrack Pro or whatever it is called on the
Mac, or my nice and cheap music software called Magix Music Maker. Best
$60 I spent, that software won me $2500 as I used to use it for editing
video as well. I'd love to show everyone the final product but I have no
idea where I could possibly store it on the net for everyone to see. Any
suggestions? (P.S. I have to have it done within the next week so I am
unsure of how large it will be at this point.)
As for recycled gold, yeah there is tons of recycled gold out there but we
continually need new gold all the time. Computers and other electronics
use gold, as an excellent conductor. Ever seen a gold plated earphone
jack? Don't forget the Aztec and Mayans had TONS of gold as well, part of
the drive for coming to this end of the earth, at least initially.

What you say is probably true since gold is inert. That is, it won't react with any other element. But you might find it even more interesting to know that all gold had to have been created in a supernova explosion of some distant star.
The fusion processes in a star's normal life cycle cannot produce gold. Supernovas are the only known natural process for creating it.

Those are some high class pictures. I'd say we have another person on this forum with some supreme talent.

Actually the pictures are taken from the video and are only 720x480 so there isn't really a reason to put them up as there is not much of a difference. At somepoint I can put up a little movie clip somewhere so everyone can see how the final product looks. I just need to find a place to store it.
