Tex Apps?

I wonder if there are or ought to be Tex Apps or games out there?

Maybe a fan app with facts and info and pictures?

But I was looking at a game Cause of Death and wondered if Tex could work like that too - screenshots of locations and dialogue and options which affect the outcome of the scene. You get points for how the scene plays out and some options are time constrained too, making you have to think quickly. Others require working out and inputting passwords.

Could be geared towards Tex I reckon.

I always thought they should make Tex Murphy: Chess.
With some suitable quips like 'uh oh, looks like I'm in check' ;-)

Well there was that one scene in Overseer... Haha but seriously I was so pissed when Nintendo came out with that True Hollywood Crime game for the 3ds. It was a total ripoff of Tex's style! They should have looked into popular action/adventure/detective games and would naturally come to the conclusion that Tex would be the best suited for the job. =)

3 ideas I think could work really well.

1. The PI Rulebook - Audio Edition. (Chris Jones narrates a completely interactive book on the rules of being a PI, containing clips from UAKM, Pandora and Overseer) (very easy)

2. Lotus Speeder Simulator - effectively a copy of the flight sim from Mean Streets. (could be fun if you incorporated some challenges).

3. A point and click tex murphy in the same style as martian memorandum. (bit more ambitious but saves having to have a huge complex budget and a massive cast of characters). (This wouldn't be very difficult either.)

If anything finds your fancy I could always try my hand at some mockups when I get some free time. I'm presently studying a complex game development course so I've gotten pretty good.
To build on Cyberpunk's idea, the App could continue on from Overseer. Do it like an old school TM game (point n click adventure game in the style of Martian Memorandum) and release each "Day" episodically.

As for the cut scenes, they could be comic book panels, like Max Payne.
Anyone tried Broken Sword as an app? Goes to show that old style games and puzzles can work with the phone market. My only thought was that a Tex game would take up a lot of space even now, because of the number of CDs

release each "Day" episodically.
wouldn't have to, it'd be easy enough to do the old fashioned way.

I'm thinking more from a cost effective position. The guys could develop in increments so while they develop titles for Big Finish, they could work on a TM App game. That way they can evolve the story and gameplay as they go along rather than having to establish a budget for a full production.
or another solution, outsource and do a revenue share with who ever they bring in, that way they're not paying anything. A lot of IOS developers do this. There is obviously a lot of risks involved with this though. But I think with an IP like Tex Murphy you shouldn't have any problems. The fans alone would be enough to make the costs back (I'm specifically saying here this wouldn't be an FMV adventure, this would be your old school SCUMM adventure).

Point is, there's no IP cost, there's no Engine Technology cost (or at very least minimal given that a lot of IOS Engines are only $100-$300 for a full license), the only thing is labor and that's offset by revenue. It's fully feasible to pull this off using the old ways, but there has to be a lot of trust there, and a lot of people essentially working for free pending payment post-release for it to work.
how about the 3 later games made into a ipad game? i know theyr big and all but hell, il sacrifice 2 gig of space on my ipad to play the UAKM and the lot on it.. I have found that adventure games is best played early on a sunday morning or at night when i have problem sleeping(thoug you might not get any sleep if you get hooked :P) i played both the brokensword games when i was in bed though i had them both installed on my pc. i played BASS and monkey island as well on my pad even though they as well are on my pc. i commpleted both the monkey island games whilst me and some friends were in america driving on thos looooong straight roads with no wiev, and dman did it kill time ;)
now i dont know the inns and outs of app making and UAKM is not onley a point and click game but allsow a 3D type and it might make some problems for them. the "3D" movement could be done with the two "joisticks" at bothe ends of the screen and like a spacebar at the bottom to make it stop and allow you to use "the muse", maybe this is a bit hard to do, i dont know. However i would get them in a heartbeat..
