Top Tex Murphy Moments
Here is a thread to discuss our “top Tex Murphy moments”, including the best humorous, emotional, and gameplay moments of the series. In a Tex game, we enjoy every minute of them, but we can also make lists of what we thought was extra awesome, and something that we normally wouldn’t find in other adventure games. Here are some of my favorite moments from UAKM. I’ll post my favorite moments from Pandora and Overseer at a later date.
SPOILER ALERT!
*** Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS if you have not yet completed UAKM!
SPOILER ALERT!
- Awesome intro!
- Tex tips over his chair in the intro
- Scene where Tex throws his gun out window
- Meeting and talking to Mac Malden… everything about this is PERFECT… the police music, the crude and sarcastic banter between Tex and Mac
- Talking to Clint the Bum, and his dumpster smelling like 20 year old mayonnaise
- Slice o’ Heaven bricks smell like pizza, water oozing out of pipe reminds Tex of coffee from Louie’s
- The video with Tex playing basketball
- The door that’s just painted on… and how it’s a real door in Pandora
- Electronics Shop items are crazy
- Plot with McFlemm and Rusty the Clown
- Bouncing off the awning at Eddie Ching’s apartment
- Eddie Ching’s apartment and Tex saying that he needs to visit more museums when looking at the paintings
- Visiting the Big PI In the Sky after talking to Franco Franco
- Grabbing the bird with the noose and hearing it hit the side of the tube that it’s in
- Tex realizing (mid-sentence) that he left the bird in his speeder with the windows down
- The entire confrontation with Pug in the alley
- The piano scene in the Golden Gate Hotel
- The beer cans and the “oh sick, a yucky band-aid!” in the hotel hot tub room
- The whole plot about Sal’s affair, and finding the pictures
- The confrontation with Eddie Ching and her goons, and the Tex quote “You mean to tell me the world is going to end on Thursday? Damnit! I don’t get my paycheck until Friday!”
- All of the conversations with Melan Tode, and Tex’s reminder of them when he looks at empty space
- The Colonel saying that he “didn’t get enough sleep last night” while there’s a knife in his chest
- The videos that play when Tex travels (in the inventory box of the interface)
- The scene where Tex tries to get Pug’s head out of the water cooler, then just tosses it on the street
- The conference room in the GRS with the portraits, and Tex’s comments about everyone
- The video that you can watch in the conference room, explaining the cult’s plan to destroy the world… it’s one of the best scenes in a Tex game that explains a big part of the plot
- The Chameleon’s death scene with the cigarettes
- The Lowell Percival cube conversation on the Moon Child… very interesting and important to the story
- The security guard getting hit on his head by a rake, and then Tex saying “what an idiot” only to hit HIS head against a column
- “Hey, I think I can see my office from up here!” while looking at the Earth
- The Ending
And that’s not even everything from UAKM! There is tons more that I loved that would take me a million years to write about!

What are your favorite moments from the Tex games?
Ill mention just a few off the top of my head from TPD.
-The little scene where Tex looks at the PlayBub in the sewer.
-Spray-painted on the ground behind Rooks is the phrase, I want my 3D TV. (A future technology that did not exist at the time).
-Just the whole suspense you get throughout the game surrounding the darker things/beings you encounter.
-Chelsea and Emily Sue Patterson. They're hot.
-The idea of ancient aliens is expressed quite well.
-You have a fax!
