Subtitles

I'm actually making French Subtitles for the Tex Murphy Pitch video, and was wondering if any Tex Fan has made english subtitles yet, because some words are difficult to understand.

If not, I think it could be a good idea. With english subtitles, we can reach a wider audience, and then, translate the video into other languages!

With a good team, it would be easy to do fast translations of the video updates and all. (First, someone make english subtitles, and then, different people translate it into their native language). In France, for example, a lot of people don't speak english! But all the Tex Games were translated.

If you want, "my voice just" has made subtitles in his language for the pitch video, with time periods and all... you can send me a message if you want the .Srt.
I've almost finished to make the french subtitles, but I don't understand what Adrian Carr is saying in the passage with the green screen, and I don't understand the Pig at the end of the video. If someone can help me, it would be great!

So is there no English transcription of the pitch video yet?

I can try to type out all the diallogue in the pitch video if so. But I've never done real subtitles before and don't use Youtube much.

I have no idea about SRT and timecodes. But I understand that Youtube has a feature that automatically syncs text from a transcript to timing in a video. And then you can download a .SBV (similar to SRT or SUB) file.

Though some small timing mistakes may occur. So if I someone does an English TXT transcript, then someone could upload to Youtube to check how the auto-sync timing looks (video set to private and linked privately to anyone else for checking). Then download the generated .SBV (similar to SRT apparently) to tweak the timecodes if any are off a bit. The edited .SBV could then be used as a final Youtube subtitle file. And others could use it to translate into their language. For the hard of hearing or deaf version they could just add the .SBV to the original Youtube upload (using different filename for SBV and setting it to public).

Here is a tutorial I found on this:

Youtube transcript guide:

Could this work for you? If so we could chat over Private Message further.

I've just sent you a PM with an .SRT file from my voice just (perfect synchronisation). You just have to fill the blanks!
Thanks again! I hope we'll reach more international backers!

i asked courtney about the possibility of them sending me transcription of the video, but silence was the answer
so i had to work the hard way - feel free to share what you`ve done, Sai, so i could check for mistakes
adrian`s accent is a disaster

I will try to help with this; if only just typing up the transcript.
We should definitely get this into Norweign, as a lot of people from that country search for Tex according to Google. Unfort, I only know English.

I will definitely share the transcription when done.
Thanks redcat, there is also transcripts for future video updates that might be required.

I've got this at the moment as what I think Adrian is saying (his voice is a bit distant and fast (intentionally), and interjected with thinking intonations e.g. "er", so maybe not perfect word for word, especially the bit talking about the "set")
Aand cut! Terrific!
That's uh then set, reset for er Chandler Avenue.
Makeup in, final check.
Thank you, Rook, that was terrific.
And let's reframe for the closeup on Chandler Avenue.
And makeup out.
And, here we go. [bell rings]
Take your moment, Chris.
Aand...
Action!
I think I'm sorta done but going to see if I can make a private upload on Youtube and see if redcat won't mind proofreading as a second opinion.

@my voice just: Would it be possible or worth it to add in the end song lyrics? I'm not sure how to add extra timecodes. Though the music did drown it out at some points, this is what I think the lyrics are (if someone else can say otherwise, especially the "unknowns" and "foes" lines, I'd appreciate it)
Tex is back!
In the saddle again.
Out in the dystopian land.
Where there are mutants,
and the unknowns,
all kinds of evil,
and different foes.
It's not done 'till the case is complete
and knock you off your feet.
I said Tex is back!
Yes he's back!
Yes he's back!
Ooooh-ah
Tex is back!
Ooooh yeaaaah.

I've finished it. No worries. But I would love if you could proofread it privately via Youtube for any tweaks and for a second opinion on the lines.

But first just want to see if its worth adding the lyrics for the end song (no idea how to add timecodes for it, but its a fun Tex themed song so maybe those in other languages would like to know what its saying too).

I am at this point now. Yeah - it is hard to hear his 2nd sentence. I think this is accurate enough.

I noticed someone else interpreted it as "ten sec brief set" but counting the seconds of the Tex with Rook clip was longer than ten seconds I think so I guess I'm gonna stick with whats there.

Gonna PM my voice just about the lyrics.

I'm almost done my word doc, so I'll PM it to you.
Also, I am getting some great screen shots while I do this. I'll have to add them to the Screen Shot section. Does James need to create a Project Fedora category?
