Release Party in SLC? (Was "We got funded" party)

Update: Is anyone interested in doing this for the release?
Matt
Hey everyone!
Who would come to a celebration party after the Kickstarter is successful? It would be in the Salt Lake City area. I currently live in Denver, but am from SLC originally and would like to put something together.
Who would come?
What kind of things would we do?
How much would you be willing to pay to come (just to cover food and expenses)? I know everyone will have just donated all of their Tex money to Kickstarter?
How far would you be coming from?
Is there anyone in the area that could do a better job of taking this and running with it?
Thanks!
Matt

Gur, Gur bëhet mur.
Who would come? I would!
What kind of things would we do? Watch the Kickstarter come to a close! Eat, drink, and be merry! Laugh, cry, make it a part of us.
How much would you be willing to pay to come (just to cover food and expenses)? Whatever needed, not a thing.
I know everyone will have just donated all of their Tex money to Kickstarter? Heheh funny
How far would you be coming from?
Washington State
Is there anyone in the area that could do a better job of taking this and running with it? The Big Finish crew

Hey Jen-
I did think it would be best if the Big Finish guys put it on... but I already contacted them and they (somewhat obviously) are too busy to plan it and want to put all of the money into the game. Since it's not tied directly to the kickstarter promotion, you know...
However, I did get a loose comittment that some of them would come if we put it together. So stick that in your bubble pipe and... blow... bubbles.
I think it would be great if they could bring some classic props. Meet the people behind the game. Have some laughs with some of the fans. A photo booth would be great with backgrounds from the game and the cast if they can come.
If someone could put together a 30 minute reel of Tex's greatest (and not so great) moments, we could have that going.
Several PCs up and running each of the games.
Some Tex swag (hello custom napkins!)
Recitations of Tex poetry.
Display some Tex fan art.
Aaron Conners dunking booth.
What else?

June is a no-go for me. Would consider July. Coming from Montreal, it's a bit of a trip.
For food, allow me to suggest Chili, pizza, and chocolate pie.
Activities? We're all fan of adventure and mystery games, so why not throw together a big murder mystery dinner! I've only ever attended one, and luck of the draw has it, I was the killer, but I remember it being quite fun.
Edit: Could invite people from Pinkerton Road as well, if you broaden things up. Cross-kickstarter conference!

Part-Time Nomad
I'd consider flying out from Maryland, but you've got to give enough notice... Booking flights are much cheaper when done in advance... It would have to be at least a month's notice... The longer the better...
We could also put together some sort of Scavenger Hunt, pair people up by pulling names out of a hat or something and have them go out deciphering clues and retrieving objects {aka evidence}...
Or ask them to plan the entire thing, date and all... Maybe they could plan it around filming of the game or something and they can give us a tour of the studio to see a couple of scenes shot first hand... Again, we aren't asking them to pay for anything, just set up the details...
Of course we won't be spending 24-7 with them while we're in town, we can come up with a few things to do as a group that doesn't involve Big Finish or Tex...
There are a lot of details that would need to be ironed out... Unless people have unlimited resources in the ways of money, you can't throw something like this together at a whim... I'd love to get out to Utah and see some of the sights, especially if it were to be a Tex Murphy get together, but at the same time, that's a pretty big trip in ways of cash...
I'm sure several people would be interested... This has been brought up before, getting together, sadly we have so many that are international, which makes a get together tough...xhonzi wrote:Who would come?
It's been mentioned already, but I agree with the Murder-Mystery idea... Might even be able to get Chris involved with this if we nail this down and make it concrete... One of the rewards {$10,000} is a Murder-Mystery Game hosted by Chris Jones...xhonzi wrote:What kind of things would we do?

I've looked into flights already for myself and it would cost me over $600 just to get out there, not too mention a Hotel for however long this will be set up for...xhonzi wrote:How much would you be willing to pay to come (just to cover food and expenses)? It's about 2,100 Miles for me... I'd be coming from Baltimore, Maryland...xhonzi wrote:How far would you be coming from?
As already noted, Big Finish's hands are kind of full right now... If you try to plan this for maybe in the Fall or something, maybe they will be more open to the idea of helping to plan it... You have to let them know, that we aren't expecting them to foot the bill or anything, just plan out a get together, everyone coming will pay their own way... But with them being there on sight, it would be easier and better if the get together were planned by them {the reason we are doing it in the first place}...xhonzi wrote:Is there anyone in the area that could do a better job of taking this and running with it?

I think this is a great idea. As others have mentioned if things can be well planned out with sufficient interest, we maybe able to involve the BFG gang as well.
Who would come?
-Count me in. Does not hurt that I live in SLC.
What kind of things would we do?
-Plenty of great things to do, even murder mystery shows. Never been to one but I can ask around.
Food wise, the SLC area has quite a bit of variety to choose from.
How much would you be willing to pay to come (just to cover food and expenses)?
-Really depends on the scope of the plans and how far some folks may choose to come.
How far would you be coming from?
-As mentioned prior I live in the SLC valley.
Is there anyone in the area that could do a better job of taking this and running with it?
-I am not much of a coordinator but I can do the research for the various suggestions and check things out.
//Chris Jones needs to expand his culinary palette. For an amazing and decadent Philly Cheesesteak, Moochies is fantastic.
Aaron Conners is spot, Red Iguana is delicious and a personal favorite.
Best Regards

Politics is like a corral. No matter where you are you will always be shoveling it.
Who would come? If the timing was right (during a college break), I'd make the trip for a "Project Fedora" release multi-day party.
What kind of things would we do? I'm up for anything.
How far would you be coming from? Northeast Ohio.
Is there anyone in the area that could do a better job of taking this and running with it? Probably anyone would be better than me at planning anything, lol.

I would be interested also. It will depend on the timing of course, and some advance notice for booking flights. I think we'll be able to firm this up more once the release date is set! A Tex scavenger hunt sounds fun. And perhaps some way that all the scavenger items fit together? A video is a great idea. They often do this at Conventions. And some Tex swag for sure!
