Questions for the chat with Chris, Aaron and Adrian here

Hi all.
Could you please post any questions you want asked to the trio here? I'll post them one at a time to make it easier for them to answer them all instead of everyone posted questions at them left right and center. Or you can email me them at
[email protected]
See you all there!
Chris

Will any of the Chandler Avenue characters have a larger role than in games past? Also, we've heard confirmation of the return of Louie, Rook, and Clint. But, what of Chelsee Bando?
What is the status regarding the Tex Murphy novel Aaron said he was working on in our last chat (back in March)? Will there be an audiobook of it voiced by Chris Jones? And, will Chris be doing an audiobook of Under A Killing Moon (for those of us that love books but hate to read them)?

Filtering out the questions would be a good idea

We don't want there to be any... mistakes.
- What role did Bruce Carver play in Access' post-Microsoft-aqusition era? What effect did his sudden passing have on Tex plans, TruGolf?
( I asked Courtney at BFG if it would be OK to ask about him, and she said yes, but better ask first before springing it on Chris.
For people don't know, Bruce Carver was the other co-founder of Access Software and its CEO. He directed Mean Streets and also features prominently in The Chameleon's death scene
)
- Why not make a movie instead of a game?
- Who are these people in the pictures at Tex's office? We've been wondering for 16 years!

- Who plays/sings the rock song at the end of the Kickstarter video?
- I heard AC, CJ, and Doug Snr. were in a band together-- can we hear that sometime?

- In the new game may we see more of the actors at the diner in the kickstarter video?
- Why does Tex consider licking everything he sees in Mean Streets???
- Are Tex and CJ the same height? No one in the Texverse seems to notice that he is a GIANT P.I.!
- OK... who's bright idea was it to offer DLC content for $150 for a game which isn't even started and which you are asking for money to fund? Whoever it was, we still love you, I promise.

- Can you all tell us more of this "Courtney" person?
- AC, If the Kickstarter does not make it, will you at least finish a the Tex Novel? :'-(
(include the tears that's part of the question!)

Would you guys be willing to add design documents into the reward tiers for each of the games, either whole design documents and/or puzzle dependencies and story pathing?
Any chance of a comprehensive list of what tools you guys use to make these games (especially PF, but even back to Mean Streets)? Guitarists like to know exactly what gear and rig Slash/Steve Vai use to produce their unique sounds, and similarly for other artists/creators.
Might some of the tools you develop in-house be released in some form, perhaps leading to a Tex Murphy modding community? (I know the potential horror that leaves us vulnerable to, as with all modding communities, but you know Cubase/Mat and others are also capable of adding meaningful content to the Tex universe.)
The Tex series has always been a technological leader. Mean Streets, UAKM, and Overseer all featured tech leaps head and shoulders above their peers. How will PF fare relative to past works, and in comparison to present games? Will PF be able to use anything like the CryENGINE 3 (or something equally advanced but better suited to your needs) to maintain Tex's pioneering edge?

My questions:-
Do we find out about the meaning/relevance of Bastille day, Faberge eggs, Tex's real name? (Mac has a theory about Chelsee which I think sounds like it could be right, and an interesting topic of debate when the truth is out)
How do you plan to fit doing all these rewards and the game around your day jobs?!?
The boxed versions of Overseer (and other games). Will they be DVD versions or the CD quality versions? (I don't mind either way but it would be wonderful to see better quality if it doesn't take up too much extra time).
Is there anything we can do to help the project that we are not already doing?
I have a picture (from JTOG) of Sonny at the Anasazi ruins - what was he going to have done there?
Just a comment - Really excited about the radio theatres. Would be great to receive them one by one, as before - builds the suspense!
I agree with Jen's post below and Lockecole's idea of an $888 tier too - great comments.
PS -Hammerhead - They might not be able to answer the question about Chelsee without giving away potential spoilers.

A few questions...
Chris - What is your best real life golf score? I'm curious....
Did you ever taking acting courses? You're a game designer, but you're also one hell of an actor, so I'm curious if you'd ever had professional training.
Aaron - In the Pandora Directive you played Dag Horton. We're you always the masked man during filming, or did you have a stunt double. Also, the pictures in the D.H.'s office that included you... any stories behind those?
Adrian - What are the biggest challenges to directing an interactive movie, as opposed to a linear one? Where can I buy the T-shirt that you sported in your Kickstarter update?
Them's be my questions.

Do you think there might be chances for the UOTM faithful to be involved in production of this game? This board has a lot of talent, and we're both eager and cheap (free is pretty cheap)!
What avenues are you going to initially pursue for distribution? There has been talk of Steam, and presumably you'd also make it available for direct download from Big Finish. Any other tricks up your sleeve? Are you planning on pursuing a physical distribution mechanism as well?
Related to that, are you going for any particular content rating, or are you intending to flex your indie muscles a bit, shake free of adolescent gamers, and go "adult"?

Apologies for off-topic, but 'adult'?? I know Chris said he'd consummate his marriage to Rook but I thought he was kidding.

Holy cr@p. I have to actually "think" again??

The past 2 weeks I've regressed into a F5 tapping, pledge upping, Project Fedora persuasion machine.

Question for Adrian:
It may be just me, but it seems the FMV sequences are not shot in a traditional tv/cinema fashion. They feel more...descriptive. As if watching a novel unveil, instead of a storyboard. The Pandora intro scene at the Brew & Stew especially comes to mind. Can you elaborate/describe the process a bit?
Embarrassing question: Is it easy to direct Chris?

Well, I'll just edit this post as the day goes along. All I can think of right now is:
Has the Kickstarter campaign gone as you expected? Were you surprised by anything (besides the DRM/DLC issue)? Would you have changed anything about the campaign knowing what you know now?
When can we expect to see some mock-ups of some of the rewards. (I personally can wait for this, but I know many people on the KS comment section have been asking for this.)
What would Adrian like to do different this time around that he may not have been able to do previously (perhaps due to technology at the time)?

Ha!

I have seen several people asking for raunchy dialogue, nudity, etc. To me that's not what Tex is. But when I noticed the (later bleeped out) spicy expletive in the Kickstarter promo, I began to wonder if they're looking to spice things up a bit.

I am mildly curious about this as well. I always thought it was funny when Tex whined about getting all the way to SECOND base with Chelsee in Overseer. But no, I don't think it quite fits in with Tex either. Although I could see more juicy bits in a novel, as the novels are a bit different than the games.
