Congratulations mate! Hope you have an awesome time, and remember pulling a Cub is mandatory on these occasions!

Happy Birthday. I checked to see if I was late to the party, but according to the time on Cub's post it looks like I'm early.
Yeah, it's a time zone thing. More time to celebrate the big three-oh!

Happy Birthday! :)

If his avatar is any indication he never ages.

Party hard Fred though I expect you'll probably be working on your graphic novel story.

Thanks a million, you guys! I really do appreciate the thoughts and well-wishes.

And Lynne, I dunno why it says 14th, but I was born on friday the 13th, august of '82, just to clear that up

What else happened back in 1982? Well...

Being born in 1982 makes me synchronistic (the antonym of anachronistic!) with classics like Survivor's Eye of the Tiger, E.T., Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast, Toto's Africa, Men at Work's Down Under (Yes, I know the correct name of the song! Woo!) The Thing, Billy Idol's White Wedding, Tron, George Thorogood's Bad to the Bone, Tears for Fears' Mad World, First Blood (a.k.a. Rambo 1), Conan the Barbarian, Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan, Men Without Hats' Safety Dance, The Clash's Rock the Casbah, as well as one of my favorite films of all time - Blade Runner.

So if you remember these well, then those things are also 30 years old this year.

The most bestselling album ever, Michael Jackson's Thriller, was released in '82. And Gandhi won the Oscar for best film.

David Eddings' first fantasy book, The Pawn of Prophecy was also released in 1982. Which was the first book I ever read in English, and gave me a real taste for reading. And, subsequently, set me on the path I am on now.

I was going to mention Mad Max 2: Road Warrior, but it was released in december of '81. And here in Norway, not until the summer of '83. Make of that what you will.

(Personally, I believe my arrival necessiated the delay of the release here. The clash of awesomeness would probably give the space-time continuum a rupture. Which is not the same thing as rupturing the space-time continuum...)

Enougha me ramblin'! Back to work, Fred! (Yes, Sam. You are indeed right.)

Again, thank you, everyone!

Yours, in happiness, truth, love and laughter,
-Fred

A terrific birthday to you, Freddy!
