They Found Atlantis?!?
Gotta love Youtube's scan feature, now you can hover over the timeline further along and see thumbnails of whats coming up. I paused it 4 seconds in fearing a screamer or something haha. Though in the end I watched the whole thing (first turning the volume down just incase, you never know!). Spoiler (highlight to read): Ghost Dad was a funny film.

I still claim to the theory that what we know as "Atlantis" is the landmass beneath what is now the antarctic ice. I'm also fairly convinced this happened when the poles shifted some time about 12.000 years ago when the fifth planet from the sun somehow died and become an asteroid belt instead.
I think I'm on to something with that theory.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Fred- I'm of the same persuasion. I always thought Atlantis was probably Antarctica. Could you imagine, if the poles shifted again, and the place thawed out ... and all of a sudden, thousands of years old technology long forgotten was rediscovered? The only problem I could see with that, if it were true, is why none of the tech, or anything about the place has been physically discovered. You'd think someone somewhere would have smuggled something of value from the place if it truly was Atlantis, and scientists would put 2 and 2 together.
I seen a documentary on the Sphinx that suggested that the statue was MUCH MUCH older than the pyramids, or any other structure around it. (due to what looks to be rain degradation of the structure, and of course we know now ... it sure doesn't rain there now.) Maybe that's a piece of the old world. Perhaps a lingering piece of what used to be, and the Egyptians built around it. And to further my speculation, have you ever noticed how the face of the sphinx, and the face on Mars look remarkably similar. Perhaps we migrated LOOOOOONG ago from Mars after we used it up. When we landed here, we did away with most of the technology that got us here, because it also destroyed our previous planet. Maybe Atlantis holds a gigantic space ship we traveled in to get here. Maybe we *caused* the poles to shift to hide it forever under ice.
Old Zulu tribes actually depict their ancients arriving from another planet. Who knows? Would be nice to actually be able to use the DNA Animus time machine thingy from Assassins Creed, and go back and see how it all truly started, and where.
There are good arguments against it, I know, but the romantic in me wants it to be true.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Guy named Devito, down the block. Don't call him Danny though. He might shoot you. He's got pretty much anything to open your mind up to extreme possibilities. Order the "Baker street special." Has nothing to do with Sherlock, but it'll sure make you feel like him.
Nah but seriously, Anything is possible. Everything isn't necessarily probable. But ANYTHING is possible.
If we don't dream the possible, good stories never get made.
If you ever get a chance, watch "Mysteries of the Sphinx" on Netflix. It's an older documentary but it raises some deep questions, and is where I got most of the info for my ... *clears throat* ahem ... theory.

I don't have NetFlix. I looked at it, but didn't bite because I don't have time to watch new stuff, let alone revisit old shows.
However, I saw the show you mentioned when it first aired. It was interesting to be sure. However, since it aired, a number of scientists have come forward to say the theory of water erosion isn't necessarily true. They claim that the people who say it has to be water erosion don't tryly understand desert weathering, and they offer other explanations. I don't recall what they are, but they don't involve water. I'm sure you could find more info online.
