Am I the only one . . .
Who wants to know ABSOLUTELY nothing about the next Tex Murphy game?
I don't want to know anything about the plot points, characters, actors. No spoilers whatsoever. No videos of Chris and company filming entire scenes, etc. (I believe you Chris, I know it's actually being made -- hell, my name is going to be on the credits.) No musical score before it's released.
I just want to get the box in my mail next year and start playing it as if it were 1996. I really believe this is going to make the whole experience much better.
(Okay, maybe a couple of screen shots, but that's it dammit.)

Just about every game like this has a Trailer if nothing else...
But I'm of similar mindset... I'm not too interested with all the details or anything... I'd rather play the game and then watch a Behind The Scenes type DVD or something... Tex Murphy games are very similar to Movies... To know too much going in isn't a good thing... I believe in that... It just takes the excitement out of it... There have been others that have posted similar distaste for knowing too much... Even one of the regulars on this board has decided to become more of an occasional guest than a regular, until the game is completed... He is afraid of accidentally seeing something that he doesn't want to see...
I'm highly interested in how they're doing it all, but as I said, I'd rather play first and then watch a detailed behind the scenes DVD afterwards... So no, you are by no means alone...

I have been watching the update videos just to see how the engine integrates the gameplay and the FMV. But as far as plot goes, I definitely want to remain in the dark. Though I would like to know who has been cast in what role.
After all this time I too would like it to be a surprise, but I trust that they would only show us spoiler free stuff. I'm not going to sweat the small stuff. Because you know we'll get the game, we'll play it all the way through (neglecting our loved ones) until it's done, and then get all depressed when it's over. Then we'll want another game and the cycle begins again. It's the circle of life.

Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

I'm with Joel - I can play the beta if I want but I think I'd rather wait until the final product comes out. If there are any huge bugs that I could point out to the crew, I'm sure that others here will spot them and report them too.
Also, I trust in those among us who are more involved in the behind the scenes stuff than myself and if they say it's spoiler free, I'll trust them.

I'd like to try to remain spoiler free. I think I learnt a little too much during the Kickstarter frenzy and even that wasn't a lot.
I am interested in some behind the scenes stuff, technical aspects and all that. Like the setting up of the green screen clip. But will remain cautious unless its clearly marked spoiler free.
Still I do think they should keep revealing stuff and doing trailers and such as not everyone will be already convinced. Some may need that extra push, especially to the general public who are not backers yet, previews may help push them to buy into it if it looks interesting to them. So long as its marked as having spoilers of course. I will assume the eventual trailers for the game will have spoilers even if not marked as such so will avoid that. I hate it when I go see a film at the cinema and can't avoid spoilery trailers for stuff I already want to see.
It'd be good if they can get some ads and trailers up at some high exposure places though. I hope they will be able to make some trailers this time around that don't just focus on the actors and cutscenes, but also shows the gameplay etc. As it seems this is often overlooked with the marketing for the Tex series. Though of course juicy bits from the cutscenes should also be shown.
I also appreciate those who will be able to play the beta. Since I know many would not want to have spoilers, but those who don't mind will be able to make the game better before retail. Any bugs and glitches showing up in peoples reviews of the game won't look good to the general public. So like plumgas I hope there will be many playing the beta.

At the moment I'm planning to play the beta. My reasoning is that it will be a new experience, something I may never get to do again.
That said, I do understand the reluctance on the part of some people. I recall the Miller brothers farming out the development of Myst III: Exile to Presto Studios specifically for the reason that they wanted to be able to play the game themselves for a change, without knowing anything about the behind-the-scenes stuff.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I'll play the Beta as long as it's purely related to tech testing. That is, walking around Chandler Avenue, interacting with generic objects, testing that locations work and puzzle integration. As long as it doesn't involve hearing any dialogue, seeing any FMV sequences or anything that could spoil the story, i'm fine with Beta testing. They could easily do it this way by just replacing story specific items and images in the game with stock standard elements.
