JJ Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode 7.

I like what he did with Star Trek, so this should be good.

Much better than what Lucas could do, showing by the prequels.
Prequels were not horrible, but not as good as the original trilogy.

As a fan of JJ, I have no question of JJ as a Director because I enjoy a lot of his work. The biggest problem here though is that he has stated many times that his vision for the latest two Star Trek films was inspired by Star Wars. By wearing both hats, he's set himself the impossible challenge of not only being at the helm of two sci-fi rivals, but he has to stylistically make them feel unique from one another.
I am just wondering why do we need another Star Wars?

I agree. What more is there to see? Luke, Han, and Leia old and grey? C3PO and R2D2 rusting away in some scrap yard? Can't we leave well alone and come up with new movie ideas?

For the same reason we need more 007; it's awesome
That's what we need. Another idea for a Star Wars game.
I agree with Joel.

Cause it is awesome.

Although, I do think they should stop when they can no longer make a good story.

But with so many great stories out there in the Star Wars Universe.... I think that may be a while.

It would be nice if they made Knights of the Old Republic into a film.
Matt
I think I'd prefer to have J.J direct and Joss Whedon do the writing. Unless Timothy Zahn(The Admiral Thrawn Trilogy author) wants to take a crack at it.

The world is suddenly a much dangerous place, when a single man is in charge of Star Wars AND Star Trek!

There's room for an infinite amount of stories in that universe. I just hope they won't cling to the past too much, with a zillion returning characters.

Well when you're in charge of two brands that are so similar there's only one thing to do. Merge!

That would be a terrible idea.

Hahaha Trek Wars!

If I recall, the original series included 9 episodes: 4, 5 and 6 came out first; them 1, 2 and 3, after which Lucas said he would NOT finish the series, leaving true fans out in....well, space! I, for one, would enjoy the finished 'mystery'. Bring it on!
