Yeah, he joked about it before:
Jim the old guy wrote:When I went on SS I became a lurker because it's easier than thinking and posting.
I think I'm kind of like Snufkin from The Moomins, going on long trips, then coming back and posting for awhile then wandering off again.

I have said it before. I will say it again.

The Groke. Is the scariest thing. On television. Ever.

Okay, I had to look that up and I think I agree. It even made a Cracked list:

I suppose you don't, it is my birthday tomorrow though but hopefully that doesn't class me as 'the old guy' yet!

I'm the Jim that on the previous version of this board a few years ago came up with the method for getting Oversser DVD to work on Windows XP.

Sorry folks, it ain't me!

I am still hanging around, Ryan. And thanks to all for your concern. What's a Snufkin and can they get social security?

It's a character from a Finnish children's TV show. While it's considered a children's TV show, it's still host to some of the creepiest nightmare-stuff in the history of both television AND children!

Aww, but she just wants a hug!
She's definitely creepy since one touch and you're frozen to death. But I did feel sad for the Groke when more was learnt about them.
Anything she touches will freeze. She seeks friendship and warmth, but she is declined by everyone and everything, leaving her in her cold cavern on top of the Lonely Mountains. On one occasion in a comic, however, she was hailed as a heroine when she, in her constant search for warmth, extinguished a forest wildfire by sitting on it.

As mentioned, Snufkin is a character from the Moomins world a book series by a Finnish author which was adapated into various childrens cartoons. In the series he was a nomad-like person who would stay in Moominvalley during the Summer and Spring, but travel to warmer climates during the rest of the year before returning. He probably wouldn't care for social security since he just lives in a tent.

My favourite was the 1990s animated series (wish they'd translated the last few episodes into English where the airship is finally completed etc.), others prefer the fuzzy felt puppet series from the 1980s or other versions. This was the theme song when it aired in the UK during my childhood (Snufkin is the one wearing the green hat with a feather):

Did you know that the first animated cartoon Moomins show was actually done up by Studio Ghibli? Before they took the name, mind you. Look it up.

They're not the first to create a Moomin show, though. That accomplishment belongs to the Germans, actually. Or rather, to be precise - the West Germans, as they were called back then.

Also, the Hattifatteners are pretty creepy. So is the Lady of the Cold.

In a good way, mind. The kind of creepy kids find enthralling and exciting without it being downright scary.

Except for the Groke. Chuck Norris lights fires at night to keep the Groke away.
