Will you get Windows Visa in later in 2006?

I'm so behind in the times that this is the first I've heard of Windows Vista.... But then I've never instaleld an OS. I usually just go with whatever comes with the computer! .... I just had to comment on the title I guess

It depends, I'm planning on buying a new computer (the parts, assembling myself). I didn't know when Vista was coming, but if it's due to this year, I might delay on buying the computer to buy it with Vista already.
I guess it would be a good investment, instead of buying - the now 5 year old - XP.

I dont know yet im geting a new PC but no idee when yet.

I was looking forward to vista but the fearute i was looking for the most they dropped. I mean the way they where gone build the file system as a database instead of a FAT system searching for a file would then have been miliseconds instead of what we have now for minetes of searching on your drive for that one word file.

Anyways ill have to wait and see what the retailer puts in my new PC I must add its being payed for by a compeny that helps blind and peaple with bad seyesight to get a decent PC in combination with the latest visual aid software.

So im kind of hoping they do a good job LOL

Don't switch to Vista so fast, let the guys from Microsoft do bugfixing first
Windows XP was not 100% stable and bugfree when it was released.

The safest way is to wait 0.5-1 year, after the first release

I plan on waiting a good 6 months after the release of Vista before upgrading (we think alike, Ender ) ...and then hopefully build a full workstation using the platform.

I have been keeping a eye on Vista for quite a few years now, and if it turns out to be what they promise then we will be up for Microsoft's bets operating system to date... it is by far the longest M$ has worked on building an OS... lets just hope M$ finally comes up with something to shut those Mac and Linux freaks up for good!

64-bit Slackware most likely. But that's only if I need more than 4GB address space for programs. Otherwise, some equivilant 32-bit Linux build would suit me.

Yeah, I am also probably going to wait for a while. It wont be enough so much of an improvment to run out and get it right when its released, and I'm also sure there will be bugs.

I've never been satisfied with anything Windows has ever put out. And if it wasn't for the fact that all the software I have is built off their poor system, I'd switch to another OS in a second.

I tend to dual boot my computer for a couple reasons... first to have a copy of 98 and XP on so I can play older games or run older programmes I still need... secondly because half the time one of the OS's will get buggy and start freaking out. This way I don't need to reinstall the OS to get it functioning properly right away at what is always an inconvenient time.

I'm in no hurry to upgrade. If your PC is doing everything you want it to do, there's not need to upgrade just because there's a newer version.
For some strange reason alot of people think that once a newer version comes out, that the previous versions instantly becomes useless. Totally not true. It's all about how you use it. I'm running a Pentium3 with Win98 to write this post among other things, and it does everything just fine.

I don't like XP much. Used to dual boot two Windows 2000 installations (one for gaming), but as games started coming out that didn't even run on W2k anymore I switched my gaming OS to XP. Might switch it for Vista when games need it to run, but that'll be when there aren't any 64bit problems left with drivers and games. And I'm sticking with W2k for my workstation installation as long as my hardware supports it. It has been running fine for me since 1999 when I got my pII 450MHz (I dual booted W98 for games), and is still running fine with an AMD64 3500+.

Sounds like I might be in the minority here, but I fully intend on getting Vista as soon as I possibly can. I am definitely what you might call an "early adopter" of new software. I'm a stickler for having the newest versions of everything, plus a lot of the features that Vista is touting are a big step up from XP.

Plus... you know... it's shiny.
