For anyone with children and a smart phone

Since I have children, I felt the need to share this, because it is rather unsettling.

Luckily, at the end of the video, there are instructions on how to keep your children safe and change your settings on your phone.

Essentially, it is a news article referring to posting pictures on the internet from your smart phone.

There are hacker tools out there that can find use the gps on the phone to translate to a map where the photo was taken.

A person had mapped out where this child's bedroom was, where they play at the park, their daycare and a few other things. It also mapped out what times they were usually there, so that a timeline could be made.

It is pretty scary, if you ask me.

The way to fix it is to go to the GPS settings on your phone. There are several options you can turn on and off. You can turn off the whole GPS, but then your maps would be affected. There is a specific setting to just turn off the GPS on the camera, so that it doesn't stamp your location to the photo.

It is definitely something I think anyone with children should do considering how many children get abducted.

Other than turning off the GPS stamping in the phone, one can also strip GPS data from pictures.
Good point Stib, though I guess it means having to jump through hoops to do it rather than just upload photos?

Great to see your first post! :-)
