Gone Home - 50% Off - SPOILER FREE Thread
For those like myself that are interested in the game "Gone Home," it is currently 50% off on Steam right now and for about 41 more hours after this writing. The price drop was what I was waiting for and I am glad I did.
For those assuming this is a game, it really isn't. I'd describe it more as an interactive story. If you can accept that and have about 2 to 3 hours to enjoy a story being told this way, then I highly recommend it. It's a simple story, but decently written an emotive. The whole package works. This method of storytelling is something different. Not a book, movie or video game but has elements of all of them thrown into the mix. I think to very good effect. Be open minded. If you go into it with a stick up a sensitive area, the experience is already ruined before you begin. But if you can be open to a different experience then you will enjoy it.
If you're playing it, don't try to out think it. Just play out events the way it wants you to. It'll be more rewarding in the end. The story is the only thing going for it and if you jump ahead it will wreck the one thing it has going for it.
I can only guarantee that this thread is spoiler free up until the end of this message. I have no clue how the comments will go beyond this point, so assume someone will spill the beans beyond here like they did in the last thread. If you haven't already read the other thread about the game and are interested in it, I recommend you pick it up. It's only $9.99 right now on Steam! Quit reading about it and just go play it. DO IT NOW, THERE'S LITTLE TIME LEFT!
While playing it, it gave me a pretty good sense of how the new Tex game will play in terms of look/physics etc. They both use the Unity engine. Tex will be pretty good I think. While going through this I kept wanting to hear Texisms as I looked around. The new game can't get here soon enough!

It actually sold quite well, but it's normal to discount games on short sales after a few months.plumgas wrote:well 50% off tells me it isn't selling too well, yes its not really a game . I think the why people felt ripped off after buying this was the way it was advertised.
maybe it should have been advertised as a interactive story & nothing more.
It is explicitly advertised as having no combat and no puzzles.
