My new rig (PC)

Since the passing of my PS3, i've been debating whether I embrace the next generation of console gaming or return to full time PC gaming. After much consideration, I decided it time to get my bum off the couch and return to the desk. I'm hoping this system will be Tesla-proof:
CPU: i7-4700MQ processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Intel® Turbo Boost)
RAM: 16GB DDR 3
Video: GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5
Optical: DVD only (but I got the unit at a VERY good price so it was a fair compromise)
I also picked up a copy of Bioshock Infinite and i'm able to run it at ultra settings, no frame rate issues so far. So stoked!

Sounds nice Joel. Tesla Effect should be just around the corner soon!

I'm looking at getting something similar very shortly. I'm sure it's beyond Tesla-proof!
I won't be buying any next gen consoles this time around. Most of the games I want to play are on PC anyway.
As for optical drive, would you want Blu-Ray? I can't remember the last time I even needed my DVD drive and I barely buy any movies or TV on disc anymore.

I've got a bluray drive on my PC. I've used it a few times but most of the time I just put regular DVDs in it. It's a nice to have but not a necessity.

I have blu-ray drives in 2 pc's one being a burner & the other just a player/dvd burner. I have a new surface pro 2 which has nothing so I just mount a iso image of the disk if I need it.
I prefer to watch movies on the big screen & not sit in front of a small screen. I have Blu-ray burner in the lounge but I have never burnt a blu-ray disk, still too expensive.
Anyway there is talk that they will be doing away with blank dvd disks as the sales have gone right down as people just want to stream the movies.
since streaming from netflix I rarely watch any of my dvd disks .

That's just it. Services like Netflix are making disc-based media a thing of the past. I haven't bought physical software for my computer in years, either. I suspect Blu-Ray will be the last real hurrah for this kind of stuff. There might be something else in the future, but it will probably be a very niche item.
