Just wondering what your thoughts are for this new addition to the series.

Boring? That is so unlike the BS series. Lynne, you said until the second part. Is the game not complete?

It's good to see you, Sam, as well as Lynne and the gang. I visit often, post less. Must be gettin' old....er.

Jim they released part 1 before xmas & the 2nd part will be released shortly. The couldn't finish the full game for a dec release so they split it in half . It had george's voice but not as funny as the previous games. The longest part in the game was the backers credits screen...lol

Hello Jim, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the game. Having just finished the latest Nancy Drew game with all its impossible puzzles without cheating, I found the Broken Sword game to be just what the doctor ordered. It has logical puzzles that real people can solve if they put their thinking caps on. Overall, I found it to be very enjoyable. Having said that it did seem short, but that is because it really is only half the game. It is impossible to judge the game until the final haft is released.
I played about an hour of it, but I'm waiting for the full game to really give it a playthrough.

My overall impression was that it feels like classic Broken Sword, if a little on the easy side. I was more impressed with Broken Age, though.

I liked what I played, but considering this year is bringing us Broken Age, a new Tex, Armikrog, and Dreamfall, it's a little hard to be as excited for Broken Sword as I otherwise would be.
Easier adventure games I believe are going to be the trend as they are trying to capture the casual gaming audience.
I played it in sections and enjoyed it. Personally having played various formats (and previous versions which included the 3D element) I much prefer this cartoon style art and I liked seeing the old familiar characters. The puzzles were challenging but not too challenging and the game did seem to take a while so I felt I got value for money.

It's nice to see it doing well in various formats from things like the PS Vita to the App Store. If we can see a revival in computer games then it can only help Tex!

I actually prefer 3d & don't like the cartoon syle.

I love Tex in 3D but do enjoy the 2D, for the most part.
Thank you all for your critique on the game. My mind is made up - I am buying it today!

Jim,

I would wait for the 2nd part to be released first

I finished this in about three days and only needed to use the hint system for one puzzle (the neon sign). It's definitely a welcome return to form for the series but I can't help it feel the intellectual aspects of it have been watered down somewhat. Still half to go though :)

In fairness, this isn't the only reason. A lot of old-school adventure games were harder than the designers intended, simply because a lot of design conventions weren't as polished and the devs didn't have the ability to do the same kind of extensive testing. You'd get hopelessly stuck because you missed something that you weren't supposed to.

So it's not just about reaching a different audience, some of it is really just about making a better, more polished game.
