Regaining the rights?
There is definitely a story there. I don't know all the details, but it involved the confluence of a few beneficial circumstances. First, the closure of Indie Built (which was still technically the same company as Access) orphaned the IP, and second, the fact that Aaron had maintained the rights to the character in other media (namely the novels, the radio theater, etc). I believe this gave them the leverage to petition in court to have the rights reverted to him (under his corporate shell Wordplay LLC).andy0075 wrote:Maybe this has been discussed already, but have the BFG gang gone into what the process was like for re-acquiring the rights to Tex? That seems like it'd be an interesting story. Unless they just bought them, which would be great but less compelling...
The actual legal process by which they transferred the rights back is speculation on my part, but I know that they were able to do it for those reasons and that it involved legal proceedings they won't discuss.
