A new PC for gamers, any recommendations?

So, if I were able to buy a system or laptop that would run Tesla Effect flawlessly, what would I need? And be technical all you want, but please break some of that jive into small words for the technological idiot savant that I am. I came across a company called Digital Storm that seems to cater to gamers. Is this what I would need? I also found something at CyberPowerPC.

If I break down and buy something, I don't want to have to do it again in 2 years, so I'll pay more for something that won't be obsolete asap. Any ideas floating around out there? (This would be a GREAT time for people Like Matt "varoom" to chime in!)

Thanks to anyone who takes a minute to help me out!

laptops are not really gaming pc's but if you buy a laptop make sure it has dedicated video card & not just on board graphics. maybe if you see a system you like before purchasing it post the specs & I will have a look before you buy.

buy as much memory as you can afford & don't buy a celeron, look at intel core 2 duo/quad processor

this applies both to pc & laptops

As I posted on BFG, you might consider keeping the laptop for everyday stuff and getting a desktop for gaming. Desktops typically have more power right from the start, and they're much more upgradable in the future.
One of my husband's best friend is a technological genius (um, compared to me!) and he can build working setups out of spare soup can parts from what I've seen, and make them work wonders. I'm going to ask him about this and show him the comments from you all here and at BFG form from Steve. I'm going to get his recommendations too. Who knows, maybe he can make me a gamer's pc.

Dan isn't a wannabe either. He's had his own business and now heads the tech dept. at a huge company locally. He keeps current with the gizmos and the bad viruses and malware that get developed. Steve said trust competency, and Dan has never failed us.

I really appreciate the feedback :)
