Indie Built is no more
Here's the article from Gamespot. If you recall, Indie Built is where Aaron Conners took the Tex Murphy franchise.

A Take-Two Interactive representative confirmed for GameSpot today that the publisher closed its internal Indie Built studio on Friday. Formerly part of Microsoft Game Studios, Indie Built was purchased by Take-Two in late 2004. The studio was known for its work on a number of sports series for which it owned the intellectual property rights, including Amped, Links, and Top Spin.
"Employees are being offered packages including continuation of salary and benefits, as well as other opportunities within Take-Two as appropriate," the representative told GameSpot. "Take-Two is fully committed to its 2K Sports brand and franchises and retains all rights to the Indie Built IP."

This is sad news. It's even sadder to hear that Take Two are going the way of Electronic Arts (concentrating on tired, 'safe' formulaic series', showing innovative games little interest). Anyone who remembers the glory days of EA back in the 90s with games like Road Rash, The 'Strike' series, Dungeon Keeper, Noctropolis (by Brent Erickson - the man who co-created the first two Tex games) etc will feel a pang of melancholy at this.
Have a guess what percentage of these games are licensed sports titles:http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/e ... -arts-inc/
Shame. And to think a development house called 'Indie Built' will be remembered for a snowboarding sim.
