Character names from the Tex games

I've always gotten the feeling I'm missing something obvious here: is something behind the name Melahn Tode? It's such a weird name. Melahn sounds like an interesting first name and Tode sounds like a last name, but putting them together seems really weird. Is there some sort of pun that I'm not getting?

The only thing I can think of is "melon toad", which definitely matches neither Shannon Engelmann nor her character. Or was it simply a case of a poorly-chosen last name? I mean, if she had been Melahn Lawson or something, nothing would appear odd.

Any other names people have wondered about? Any lore about the naming of the characters (such as "Ardo Newpop" - a great one!)?
the letters in 'tex murphy' spell out 'humphrey,' as in 'humphrey bogart'. the 't' and 'x' are unused though...wonder if it has any meaning...hmmm...

p.s. just saw that all on my own! I'm cool 8)

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I'm not sure if anyone realizes this, but if you rearrange the letters in 'Melahn Tode' you get - LAMENTED HO...

...spooky or what?

After slamming those names in the Anagram Generator I've come up with that Ardo Newpop could mean 'Pawn or dope'.

But if you want irony: Chelsea Bando - Chase a blonde!

How about Hotel Named? Demon Lathe?

Reminds me of the movie "Sneakers". Great flick.

Tex liked puzzles. I wonder if there's a code that's being cracked here. What about Jackson Cross and others?
No crass jocks.

I agree. Let's keep the sport on the pitch and off the message board, shall we?
