film noir short and also seeking original music

hey ya'll i just made a short for the film club i'm pretty happy with. it's like 5 min and it's really silly. it's actually not yet done seeing as how the sound fx and music isn't exactly right for the short... i'd like to get some original music for it and redo the sound effects before i show it off... for now i just dropped some tex murphy music in just to give it the right feel while i was working on it.

speaking of... i read on a post earlier that someone else was working on a film noir short and was seeking some original music, and it looked like there were quite a few people who said they might be able to help. if anyone still had some music they wouldn't mind me borrowing, just drop me a line. if you'd like to see the mostly completed short to give you an idea of what kind of music i'm looking for or what the subject matter is, right now you can see it at http://www.myspace.com/elephino under "my videos" and you have to be logged in to myspace (it's just a free quick registration) in order to see it. later when i'm happier with the cut i'll upload it to the http://www.grumpsters.com site.

take care everyone!

i've got it listed in my profile on the left
That was pretty entertaining. Well done!

If I may make one suggestion it would be to have the blinds cast shadows into the room. It's not noirish if they don't.

If you don't manage to get enough outside light past the blinds, perhaps you could have a very soft light source inside the room as well?
Realy nice indeed.

keep up the good work
Live is too short to waste it make sure its with the one u love !

thanks for the lighting tip! i might go in and redo some of the scenes with that in mind.

this was for a film club project, and the only requirements were: it had to be five minutes long, have a balloon and a moustache in it, and have no english. oh and we only had two weeks to do it (four days of which i was in las vegas).

but overall i'm happy with the turnout. yeah lighting with blinds would probably help a lot though.
nice work. :)
I gotta say, Cyndi, I loved it! It really cracked me up! Loved the legs!
By the way, there are lamps available that project stripes, giving the illusion of blinds. You could also take a plain spotlight and tape aluminum strips to the front for the same effect...

That's great! Looks like it could have been one of Aaron Conners' feverish dreams.
What did you have in mind for the music?
You want me to do this project? Well, here's the way it works:
Cheap, good, fast. Pick any two.

thanks! i'm glad you enjoyed it.

for the music, i just wanted something original and royalty-free that creates the same mood that the pieces i chose from tex murphy do. basically, some sort of saxophone intro, with some fun jazz in-between, and then sexy music for legsy mcgee, and maybe some sad sexy music (like in "upsetting a client"), and then adventure music for the ending...

but i'll take whatever i can get. if you have a better idea from viewing the piece and access to music, i'll listen. ;-)

you can send me a message here, my myspace page, or my e-mail at [email protected].

thanks again for the feedback everyone!
