For the Aussies

I was watching Lost, and an Australian character said, "I must be the only Australian who loves peanut butter." What in the world?! Peanut butter is the food of the gods! Tell me this is Hollywood playing fast and loose with the truth!

It's hollywood codswallop! I myself eat it by the spoonfull, as a snack. And I don't know anyone who hates the stuff.
But then again, whilst we are here:
- I have only seen a Kangaroo in a Zoo or dead on the side of the road.
- Nobody has shrimp on a BBQ becuase we call them prawns.
- Fosters is probably out least drunk beer, falling short of demand compared to most other international beers.
- Vegemite is probaby the most disgusting thing ever conceived by man
- The 'pickup truck' is called a Ute (short for Utility Vehicle) and is an Australian invention
- I usually adhere to all the above mentioned stereotypes becuase it drives international women nuts about me! ...mate.

You just might not want to know, friend. Or, mate.

We had some "Office Olympics" as a team-builiding exercise, and I was on the Australia team. We even sang the Cookaburra (sic) song, and I played the guitar. I looked up some Australian slang. . . I'd better not mention them here.

I don't know anybody who doesn't like peanut butter. Probably the only controversy you'll ever get with peanut butter is smooth or crunchy.
I never understood Vegemite, and probably never will. But I can eat Nutella by the spoonfull!

Codswallop indeed! I am dumbfounded that they would say pull something like that out of their butts and expect people to just swallow it (ok, bad picture there - I've got to watch my mixed metaphors more closely).
Of course, there's the possibility that she was being sarcastic. It sure didn't come off that way, though.

I'll say it if nobody else will or can: I do not like peanut butter.

Oh, let me guess, and you think roses are ugly, would rather be in pain than in good health, prefer bearded women, etc.

While I love the stuff, my dad hates it...so there're two people who dislike it.

I've heard of people convincing their wives of a lot of things...but a love of peanut butter is a new one.

Oh, Andy, there are creative ways to use peanut butter.

No, I like my roses red, myself in top shape and my women without beards. I just don't like peanut butter. However my favorite thing to put on top a slice of bread? Eggs. Fried eggs with taco sauce on it, scrambled, cooked... cooked, cut in slices with a bit of salt and anchovies... mmm... love it. Don't eat too much of it though. My diet mostly consists of either blueberry or strawberry jams, cheese, various forms of salamies, mackerel in tomato sauce, liverpaté... normal norwegian foodstuff to be honest.
It sounds so glamourous in english though. Quite common stuff here, I assure you.

Now to answer my own question I had a look at the Wikipedia and found this:
Sorry in advance to all Aussies, but to me this looks more like tr..emendously uneatable paste.

But as I can see in this forum, even amongst the inhabitants of the "Lost Continent" no unity prevails in regard to this matter.
