Severe withdrawal
I just saw a ingame trailer for Sam'n Max which're due in oh, not overly long from now. And I felt that good feeling I get when I played a new adventure game that I instinctively knew that I was going to love and cherish when I played it, and want to keep for when I was done with it.
I've not had that feeling in years. Last time I played an adventure game of that quality must've been... Grim Fandango. And we all know how long it was since THAT was a 'new' game. What I felt in watching that trailer was an instant bond formed. I need adventure games. More adventure games. FEED MY DORMANT ADDICTION!! RAAAGHWRRRR...
I guess my point here is this - GIVE ME SAM & MAX NOW OR THE TROGLODYTE GETS IT!!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Norwegian newspaper's webpage. They had five clips from Sam & Max, but they spliced them into a few minutes worth of trailer.
There's a video-bit here on a norwegian webpage for those who can access it:

Link should be clicky-clicky.

Here is also a link for some in-game action. Not that I've seen it yet, but I intend to do so tonight after work

Anyway - seeing the screenshots make me long for this game a h*ll of a lot

After hearing the voices and listening to the dialogue I am hooked, well and truly hooked. I shall hold the troglodyte hostage until I receive my copy of said game!
SAM: "We'd like to patronize your fine establishment, my good man."
MAX: "By patronize you he means we wanna buy stuff from you, not mock you. We probably will mock you but that's not what he meant."
Shopkeeper: "I know what he meant! Don't patronize me!"
Blissfull Lucasarts humor, come swaddle me and take me home to the land of Adventuregames of old.

Grim Fandango was damn good! I still quote it on an almost daily basis:
Manny: "Wow, you're in for some trip, wish I was going."
Celso: "Why don't you?... You could give me a lift."
Manny: "I can't get out of here until I work off a little debt to the powers that be"
Celso: "Community service eh? I guess there are some folks worse off than me"
Manny: "Oh don't worry about me, I'll be out of here soon... [under breath] No thanks to dead end, no commission low life cases like yours' menso!"
Ah yes... as stated before, classic Lucas Arts humour.

Always sweet to hear those old jokes from grim fandango realy kool and sam and max realy looks to be another greand funn advanture
I never got that joke. But then, I've never read any Robert Frost. My favorite quote from Grim Fandango would be, and to avoid spoilers, I'll just give the punch-line:
Manny: "Actually... them, I DO work for..."
That's it, Grim Fandango's coming down off the shelf now. Warming up to Sam & Max! Maybe later I'll get my Monkey Island on.

Not so long ago I actually fired up Monkey Island 3 once again - aahhh the memories came rushing back in as the game went along
Still - I only played through a very small part of the game (just to the start of Part 2 or something like that), but it was still a very memorable and nostalgic trip I went along on

I thought they'd cancelled the new Sam and Max. Good to know its still coming out then.
They seriously need to start doing more adventure games. I don't understand why people think they wouldn't be popular. I never felt they were floundering with such great classics coming out.
And yeah games these days really need more of a sense of humour. Funniest game I've played recently was Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. And that was awhile ago. A friend was telling me of a court case game on the DS though that sounded funny (interrogating a parrot etc.). A good dosage of wit and humour in a game makes it really entertaining. I wonder why only Adventure games seem to really take advantage of that, seems all the classics were witty: Sam and max, Monkey Island series, Simon the Sorcerer, Gobliins series, Grim Fandango, Space Quest series and many many more.

Actually yes, they cancelled Sam'n'Max 2. The new game, that is coming out now, is totally different and from a different company and has nothing to do with the old S&M 2 from LucasArts.Sai wrote:I thought they'd cancelled the new Sam and Max. Good to know its still coming out then.
The new game will be in episodic format, were short episodes are planned for each one or two months.
