I sure didn't feel let down. In fact I'd say as a game it is actually better (better interface, better though easier puzzles, more story). The humour is at least as good in my opinion. Music, voice overs and graphics are all good. But of course it's episodic, so a lot less elaborate locations to visit.Andy wrote:It really lives up to the glory of S&MHTR?
If you're extremely nostalgic about a game released 13 years ago no sequel can give you the exact same satisfaction, it's impossible. But Sam & Max Culture Shock does it's name proud.
I think it's a great game, but it's true, if you're a nostalgic, you will always prefer the first one.
I don't post often (because of my english) but i have a question;
Has anybody here played "psychonauts"?
I'ts the last game of tim schafer (day of the tentacle, grim fandango, full throttle).
I've juste finished it, and it's already cult in my opinion. It's between grim fandango, day of the tentacle and beyond good and evil! With a lot of back story
If you loved grim fandango, there is some parts of the game where there exactly the same ambiance, graphism. (the theater for example)
(sorry for my english)

I rented Psychonauts the other day, and I liked it. I never finished it. I got ... ohh about to the part where I'm searching for a milkman in the mind of a guard stationed outside of a mental instituition. You see the milkman had the key for the gate, where my characters girlfriend was trapped inside, because an evil teacher was going to steal her brain, in his plot to take over the world. I couldn't make this stuff up.
It was fun, yeah, but every once in a while, something to me can be just a little TOO farfetched. But that wasn't really what turned me off from the game.
Don't get me wrong, at the beginning, I was having a great time meeting all the characters, and such, but then the combat came, and I was turned off. You see, me, and this is weird, I love platformers. I love first person shooters. And I love Adventure games. Mixing adventure gaming with platform gaming is like a very horrible marriage to me. I play adventure games for a more laid back, mind intensive, puzzle laden experience, with just the right amount of an engaging story thrown in to give me reason to play. I play FPS's for nonstop action, and twitch gaming. If it has a story, I could care less. I just wanna blow things up. They just don't mix for me ...
But I will agree it has hit cult status, and if you can stand the melding of genre's you'd love the game.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
