DrPaul needs some help

Hey guys,

For the last three years, I quit work and have been on zero-income in order to spend full-time developing some inventions that have been floating around in my mind for a long time. Like everyone else, I always seem to be too busy working to follow my dreams. So, I decided enough was enough. Time to chuck it all and do my own thing.

Anyway, two of my projects are nearly complete and are in the early stages of the patent process. Unfortunately, they are not to the point where I can reveal them on an unsecure forum like this. All I can say is that one of them is an after-market Jeep product and the other is software.

The software is essentially complete, but it's also where I need some help. What I'm looking for help on is how to build custom toolbars for Mozilla or IE. This is in order to provide a convienient interface between the browser and my program.

So, do any of you guys have some experience in creating custom toolbars for either Mozilla or IE? What I need this toolbar to do is, when selected, take the current URL and write the URL to a new file in a specific directory.

For instance, If I were viewing http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com, I would click on MyToolbar and it would generate a new file called "MyCurrentURL" and place it in the directory "C:\MyPath\" The file would contain only one line reading: "http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com". That's all it has to do.

Do any of you guys know how to do this? I have seen that Mozilla offers development tools for such things. But, I am afraid it will take me too long to get up to speed with the Mozilla Development Tools and am hoping that someone can either show me how it's done or I can contract someone to do it.

Thanks
Sorry Doc, I'm at a loss. Cub?
Sorry guys, my web development experience does not venture into the realms of browser toolbar integration.

Look for some online tutorials... and search other forums specifically dedicated to web-development and you should gain some insights.

Yeah. Mozilla has some tutorials for their development tools. I guess I'll have to bit the bullet.

I expect that the code I need is probably only about ten lines, but I'll likely have to become an expert at browser development before I can write it. That's why I was hoping to find someone who already is.

I'll check around for some browser-development forums. Maybe the answer is out there, looking for me.
You might try to seek out somebody from those forums to do the code. Offer them a credit or something?

Better still, maybe contact a local college and offer up like $50 to a programmer who'll do it for you...
Good ideas.
There's quite a few programming forums with a section for Job Offers if just asking in the general question sections of those forums don't amount to anything. Hope you find something, best of luck.
