Jen I'm sorry
I've read a few posts recently where people have seemingly taken their frustrations out on women in general or drooled over them or god only knows what and we don't have many women on this board (and those we do are damn good looking too!)
So I just wanted to say I for one think you're great. I'm pretty sure that the rest of us think so too, but sometimes I think we all forget that we can say things or make an opinion and it is bound to offend someone on this board, whether male/female, straight/gay black/white, human/mutant.
We love ya.
PS- this post isn't intended to have a go at anyone in particular

HEY! I'm a black parapalegic mentally unstable mutant! You jerk!
No seriously though, we're a bunch of men here with three or four women who post on here, and about only two regularly ...
Being male, and inherently having that "insensitivity" gene that we're born with, (At least the men who have a backbone, and aren't complete and total worthless peon nerds with pocket protectors, and what-not ... umm ... not that there is anything wrong with that ... ) we can sometimes forget that the things we say can be hurtful or offensive to the opposite sex, because hey .. things that would offend the opposite sex don't really offend us. It's just the way things are. I, for one, forget sometimes. I'm a different kind of person. I can really offend people sometimes, just by speaking my mind and exercising my first amendment rights. I try to hold back here however, because this is a Tex board, not a "Flame wars" board. Not out of censorship, but out of respect. I'm not speaking for all the men here of course ... I'm just speaking for the real men who aren't little momma's boys that cry about their liberal far left political agenda which is a load of crap. Hippies.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.

Typical pom... always got to take the road of valour.
Seriously though, I agree with David... However, I might add that I think to a certain extent Jen alreay knows that we are all respectable people who would not intentionally aim to offend other members... particularly those of the opposite gender... and so I don't want to approach every topic with kid gloves either.
I have always taken good humour ahead of offesnse, and am appreciative when during times where things might slip out the wrong way (intentionally or un-intentionally), that they are taken in good humour as well.
I am thankful that there are no real jerks on this board... we are all amigos and we know it, so I'd rather continue being myself, and own up to anything when it happens... which I have no shame in doing.
i know you said this was not directed at anybody David, and I am not placing myself in it's path... merely putting my own spin on it.

Now there are calls for new rules in which all the guys in this forum must temper their thoughts and comments so that our highly prized female member will never have to be offended them.
Maybe you ought to ask Jen about this first because I think that what you are proposing would be a great insult to her.
As you all know, Jen highly values and fights for her equality. Such a proposal would certainly take that away from her. Instead of respecting her and treating her like an equal, it would be treating her like a child. Like she's not strong enough to handle the big bad guy talk. Of course, I can't speak for Jen, but I doubt that this is what she wants.
