Re: Interesting Trivia from AC
Another small trivia item. The only mistake I have noticed in the entire series (for things that aren't simply artistic imagination for the story) is that they improperly list the NSA as being the National Surveillance Agency in a single line comment. If memory serves, it is when you look at a docum...

I was just teasing, I don't use "Sam" in my nickname, but it is the name I go by :) Saw the opportunity for some great word play and felt like it fit in the topic very well. I am in the Air Force as a scientist (specializing in physics), though. I could really use some alien technology rig...

Perhaps Fred was directing that question toward me? It's an Air Force project, not a NASA project, after all. DARPA is a fabulous place...we (the military, all services) offload our risk there, and they only need a good idea every 20 years, but when they have a good idea, it's really good...like the...

Any other Gabriel Knight fans out there? I never played through GK 3 in its entirety before, going through it right now and it is pretty well-done, although what originally turned me off was it seemed like a step backward to go to (what was at the time) primitive 3-D polygons instead of sticking wit...

At the risk of exposing my total geek points, my gut reaction was I don't think reading a CD is anything like reading braille. CDs are read by shining a 780 nm (deep red) laser and measuring the reflected light intensity, which varies based on the depth of the well. (For some depths, the transmitted...

I was wondering if anyone has a saved game for Gabriel Knight 2 (The Beast Within) that starts on CD #3? I realized CD #2 is missing from my case :( I played through the first CD again recently, and I have played through the 2nd CD long ago so I know the story contained in Chapter 2, but I want to m...

Re: GOG versions of the games and Graphic Overlays
The only graphics settings I messed with were in UaKM/PD I chose movement mode to be windowed in the same size window as interaction mode, so the screen wouldn't toggle back and forth between the two sizes when I toggled. Other than that, I didn't really explore the options. That screen size selecti...

Re: My current gaming-experience
But DROD: Architect's Edition is freely available from www.drod.net (under the Downloads section), so you don't need to buy it. Pure puzzle enjoyment. It's a very unique game, very highly recommended. Starts out easy, but gets hard in a hurry! Great support forum too if you get stuck and need a hint...

Deadly Rooms of Death (DROD) is a classic. You can get the original for free: http://www.drod.net (Very good puzzle game. Starts out easy but gets hard in a hurry. Also a good support forum where you can get room hints if you need them.) All movement is deterministic, although you may initially thin...

Magician's Nephew is first in the history of Narnia, but Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe was written first, so that's why there is a difference. I recommend a paperback 7-in-1 collection, very affordable: http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Narnia-C-S-Lewis/dp/0007117302/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=books&q...

I had no issues getting any of the Tex Murphy games to work on my machine from GoG, other than occasional Overseer crashes which were mildly annoying but the game auto-saved before crashing and the crashes weren't repetitive at the same location. I believe this problem plagued the original release o...
