Not like, shake his hand meet him. I went to a public speaking event and saw him as a member of the crowd.

Right here. On this dotted line. Ignore the fine print.

I'm so well-known, the other day, that when I was standing around chatting with my pal the Dalai Lama, his Holiness the Pope came up to my dad and asked "Who's that guy hanging out with Fred?"
Because, yeah, it's laid out like that.
And I need to get off the Red Bull. Like, now.

Yes! I just crapped myself laughing! Well, not really, but you get the metaphorical assessment I assigned to the laugh as meaning ... like I laughed a lot.
I wouldn't mind meeting the Dalai Lama myself. I've got a lot of questions for that guy, and most of them stem from the fact that as much as I think I know about Tibet and China, the more I realize I have no idea about it. They had all the olympic protests and what have you, and when I found out it was all because of this Tibet thing, two things happened. One, I felt bad for the people in Tibet. Two, how in the heck are you going to protest a sporting event with political views? China may suck as a country, because they have no idea what a human right is, but I think that should make us all want to kick their ass in the Olympics ... Like badly. Not disrupt a tradition that has been around a long time. I mean for god's sake, China was taking this seriously, and trying to be a good host for the games. Their interior handling of politics may suck, but it has nothing to do with the sports in my opinion.
So yeah, if I meet the Dalai Lama, I'd want to know if he supports these protests, where people are actually trying to put the flame on the torch out.
Great to hear from you Jen, and thanks for reeling me in. She knew my weakness and exploited it. Naked photos ... (Homer's voice) mmmmmmm ....

Actually, I believe it's the Dalai Lama's brother who lives here in town (Bloomington), which is a pretty good excuse for Dalai himself to stop by a couple times a year and hang out at his brother's temple. I've seen him on several occasions, strangest one being in the mall: he was surrounded by two or three munks in orange robes standing outside the candy store, and then another monk came out from the store with a bag of candy and handed it to Mr. Lama himself. I saw all this as I was walking by, I believe the closest I got was about 4 feet away - there were no body guards or any other type of security - but who knows, the monks could have had numchucks and swords under those robes for all I know

! Usually when he visits in the summer his Hollywood Posse tries to make it out here also - I remember a summer a little while back, I believe it was Uma Thurman, Richard Gere, and Harrison Ford (+Relatives) that came and stayed at the Four Winds by the lake and hung out at the Temple, which is about five minutes from my house. So I rule

Ya'know, that's a good point. The Olympics is a respected world event and regardless of who hosts it, it's a competition of the best athletes on the globe.
I must admit i felt a little sick one morning when i heard of protesters trying to extinguish the torch as it passed through (can't remember where).

Relieved to see you posting again, TM. You were greatly missed.
Yes, I'm getting older, fatter, sicker, but still keeping a positive outlook on life. How can I not? This is my home away from home even tho' I don't have to leave home to come to this home 'cause....nevermind.
Speaking of Wrestlemania, I was at the third one here in Detroit (actually at the Pontiac Silverdome). Saw Hulk Hogan body slam Andre the Giant. Incredible.

I agree with Jen; totally cool avatar, Rocky. If you've noticed, I changed mine again. Each new avatar is a pic of the little lady and me-self from years ago and each one goes back a little further. I think I'm going through my second childhood. I'm gonna look for one of me when I was a kid. That will be the last, cause if I go back any further I'll simply disappear.

Would that create some sort of rift in the space-time continuum, Jim?

Wow! You were present for one of the most defining moments in wrestling history! I've watched that show so many times over the years. You also were able to see Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat, which was one of the best matches ever. WM 3 was arguably the best ever. That's so cool that you were actually there.
