My insurance kicks ass...

The only thing I pay for are Prescriptions... And I never pay over $3.10 for any one Prescription...
My Dr. Visits, Lab Work, X-Rays/MRIs, Hospital Stays, Surgeries, etc, are all completely taken care of by the Insurance... And I haven't come across anything that they argue about paying either... Except for One medication, Ambien CR, for some reason they won't pay for that...

Dentistry has always been expensive... Haven't a clue as to why, the stuff most Dentists use is relatively cheap compared to what people get charged...

well in Australia they try to tell us we have a great health system, reading about your costs makes me wonder now.

just to go to your everday doctor cost $65 & we can only claim $30 back from the medicare which is government funded. If you can find a doctor that bulk bills then it costs you nothing.

I pay $800 a year to the government when I do my tax return & I also pay $1200 a year for health insurance. Health Insurance is no good to you unless you need to go to hospital as without you have to wait. The extra you pay health insurance to cover glasses & teeth don't even cover you for half of the cost.

prescriptions are about $24.00 if it's on the nationional health scheme list. So usually when I fill my normal scripts I'm down $70-80

All the workers pay for all people that are on welfare payments.

Ouch...

They say the US has the Best Health Care System in the world... Makes you wonder why they are trying to mess with it... As I was always told, "If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It"...

To my understanding there are only about 20 million people without coverage, not including Illegals {which we shouldn't be covering anyway}... And only about 7 million of the 20 want health care but can't afford it and don't qualify for our Medicare or Welfare system...

You know what I say to this... Augment the Medicare and Welfare systems instead of screwing over 90% of the country just to get those few some health insurance... Augment the systems so that these people now qualify, which leaving the rest of our health care system alone...

What really fries my potatoes about all this is the fact that the government {congress} are unwilling to use the system they are trying to implement...
If I grill you a Steak and bring it to you and say, I wouldn't eat that, but you go ahead... Would you then want to eat that steak???

I prefer the way it was years ago, your health insurance covered you for everything, but then they started this bull $#it that everyone should be covered for health care, so the workers paid.

I think if you pay for health insurance you shouldn't have to pay the government levy.

things are only going to get worse as the government will want the billions back they have given everyone to spend to head off the recession.

I am surprised no one posted about the Canadian Health Care System.

This isn't to bash the American system of health care..... but Canadians kind of shake their heads at it.

Public health care isn't so bad.

At least I know I'll never lose my house over a hospital bill.

And also, people know that they won't be turned away because they can't afford a bill.

Our government health care mostly covers hospital stays, drugs for seniors and low income families, and doctors visits. There is also a program for help on things like wheel chairs, prosthetics and other assisted devices. These are handled on a case by case basis. We can also pick our own doctors.

The rest of our stuff is covered by benefits through work and its not so bad as life insurance and long term disability is included. Disability is provided by the government too should you not qualify through work.

I don't know.... I never understood the American fear of public health care.
It's not that bad.

Although, what is being proposed to fix the problem isn't the greatest solution either. I don't think you can quite say just screw the 20 million people without health care either.
Everyone deserves to get health care, regardless. No one should have to die because they don't have the money, even if they are illegally in the country.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

Yeah, but like you said, it is handled on a Case-By-Case basis, which means someone could be turned down for a life saving procedure... I've heard the stories about how people would have to wait months to get a bypass that they needed right then, so instead of waiting they cross the boarder and come have it done here in the US... That is the type of situations most people are Fearing...

Like I said, those who are enforcing this new health plan and those who are creating it are NOT taking part in it... As I said in a post above, If I cook you a Steak and then bring it to you and say something like "I'm Glad I Don't Have To Eat That", but you had no choice, would you really feel comfortable eating that???

I don't really know if our system is good or not - we get free treatment on the NHS but there's a heck of a long queue. You can pay privately if you like and get seen nearly straight away, but then it costs a lot more.

So you can take insurance as well to cover private treatment, but if it's not serious you can wait.

And most employers, not wanting their staff to be off work, pay for the insurance.
