Anyone going to GamesCom?
I don't know about this see, I think going down the novel path is a great idea sure, but once you've completed the novels no doubt the desire to do a radio/visual adaptation will follow on as a natural progression of the idea. (just as many novels eventually get turned into films/games)As for the audio adventure game I had planned, even though I've done a ton of work on it, I decided that it was still just a stopgap (like the 3 Cards games, etc.) and what I really wanted to do - and what I think most Tex fans want - is to know the rest of the Tex saga, so I decided to just focus on the novels.
I don't see it as a stopgap but rather a stepping stone (mainly because 3Cards would rather be seen as a total deviation to what you guys do best- the audio adventure is rather in line with exactly what Big Finish should be doing which is a return to the old adventure game style- that Telltale has proven so successful.) in the end we all want to see Tex return to the video game scene- you obviously have to start somewhere on paper so the novels are a great starting point- at least then it is on paper and something we have access to faster than a game would take to develop. I'm probably thinking a bit too far ahead lol.
But in the end that novel has to turn into something visual, this is why I'm suggesting don't rule the idea out completely, the idea is much better than 3Cards was. Plus we're all dying to see Chris back as Tex Murphy. I'm glad to see that you're going ahead with the novels so I can't wait to read them when they finally come out.
I'll be interested to also see the work you've done on the Sims3 too. Have fun in Germany.
Great to hear that you might make it, Fred and dkbtf!
So it looks like we'll be seeing each other rather soon. I can say that the party preparations are going great. We have over 50 confirmed guests already and it's easy to tell that a lot more guests will follow.
Last 2 years have been amazing with fantastic guests like Ragnar Tornquist (The Longest Journey, Dreamfall), Dan Connors (CEO of Telltale) or Steve Ince (Broken Sword) and this year is gonna be a blast once again.

Wow. Germany. Don't think I will making that trip, seeing as how I am broke. But it would be fantastic to hit that up.
It's awesome to hear that you are still moving ahead with the novels. I gotta be honest...a game would be great right now, or a radio theater to present the stories you've got, but for me, right now, a great Tex story would do me just fine. I've been on a reading kick lately and a novel about our favorite PI would just make me year! Keep up the good work AC and we look forward to what you have in store for us all.

I agree with Lestat....Yay novels indeed. I'm excited about the idea of holding another part of the Tex saga in my hands and just allowing myself to be absorbed into the world of Chandler Avenue.

Howdy!
After a brief period of uncertainty as to whether or not I would actually be at GamesCom, I've made actual travel arrangements, so anyone who can make it out there, I'd be happy to meet in person!
Since I'll be representing EA, just stop by the EA booth and ask for me (or just look for the tall guy).

Sadly, I'll be unable to attend. Basically because I can't afford to travel all the way down there, and that it's a 12 hour drive. (Or, a cruise from Oslo to Kiel and a 5 hour drive. Yeah right...)
Sorry Aaron. Maybe some other time.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Fred, I feel bummed too and I can't attend. It's a nine hour plane ride to get from the East Cast to Barcelona. I don't even want to imagine how long it would take me from the West Coast to Germany. Couldn't afford the ticket and the time off.
It would have been an honor to meet you Aaron and say hi. I would have thanked for you for all the great laughs and drama I enjoyed playing your games.
