I decided to buy Window 8 Pro for 39$ and very quick to understand it. I like it so far.

I don't think they'd go with WinX for a couple of reasons... It just doesn't have a good Ring to it {to my ears anyway}, it is close to OSX as already mentioned, and there is a program out there called WinMX...

www.winx.com already exists... Apparently it is some sort of search site...
{Not A Valid Link} www.windowsx.com is available though or at least it doesn't load anything when typed in...

But since we're on speculation of possible Windows names, I'm thinking they might go with something like Windows Xtra... Since they already did Windows XP, I think just an X would confuse some people... So I think they'll want to spice it up some...

I tried something from the HP website to help install their printers, if that's what you're referring to. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with my computer.

I don't often print things at home, so I'll manage for now.

The Windows 7 drivers should work. Have you tried the Compatibility Wizard?

I will be jumping on board straight away... Is the performance increases I am most excited about. Not only in the speed of the OS, but because it is far less bloated and more optimised, program's run better too.

This. I'll migrate when I simply HAVE to. Still running XP on this particular system (at work, in my shop) but have Win 7 64 on both PCs at home. Then again, I am not really into portable devices, since I am not on the go much at all (self employed). Even though 8 works on touch or not, if it doesn't offer something otherworldly over 7 then I'll hold ground for now.

those wanting their start menu back need only download this:

http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

its free unlike the $5 Stardock version which is a ripoff.

I'm not touching windows 8 on account of their appstore. It'll kill the PC video games industry if it takes over the market so that's something we don't want IMO (basically because Microsoft only wants to put console ports and casual games on it.)

Steam will no doubt move to linux and I can eventually see the video games industry using GNU software from now on, just need one of them to produce something fairly user friendly and we'll all migrate/refuge to that.

But yeah, Windows 8 bad medicine for game developers.
