I think the main reason to have it in Salt Lake City is the ease of attendance for AC and CJ - they live there. We really shouldn't ask them or expect them to travel. My opinion.

Yeah, I agree with that, JTOG

I agree with you, JTOG. There are other reasons as well, one being that accomodations are probably cheaper in Salt Lake than in San Francisco (except during the Sundance Film festival, that is). Gas prices are lower here than in the Bay area as well.
Plus, I can see about getting a meeting space at the brand-spanking new library over here, which has free wireless internet access, in case any really plugged-in types in attendance would like to set up a live chat session and/or webcam feed over here for the rest of the Tex community members. I'd even be willing to put up some of my Tex memorabilia up for a drawing, if there's enough of a turnout.
Maybe we could plan this shindig for Tex's next birthday...how 'bout it?

Sounds like a plan!... If we can work out a way to get my ugly mug in on the fun then I say rock 'n' roll! I cannot comprehend the amount of technical difficulties that folks are going to have though with a vast array of webcasts.
On a related side note; when we had a little get together here in Sydney for the Australian and New Zealand MYST fans, we actually had a conference call with Rand Miller (one of the creators of the game), and it worked out rather nicely, as every had a chance to ask him questions.
Either way, Im sure something can be worked out... even if each each area of the globe can have their own meeting points where a bunch get together, and perhaps globally commune at some stage.

St. V came up with some good points and I say, "Let's get this show on the road!" March 4, 2007 in SLC. Maybe that will give CJ, AC, AC, Dv and any others enough time to plan their agendas. Hopefully? Dalton, are you listening?

Yes, Jim, I'm watching and listening.
If my directing schedule allows I wouldn't miss it for the world. Any excuse to visit the guys in SLC. It will be stunning around Tex's birthday [cold] but beautiful.

Mike didn't come, but three or four fans got together in Vegas, met each other for the first time, and had a blast!...
All we'd need to do is agree on a place and time to do it... Doesn't even have to be a big ol' thing... just a few of us getting together somewhere fun.
The kind of meeting described in the original post is something you all should consider. What I mean is, organizing a small group or groups of small groups is much more likely to succeed than a meeting which will accomodate everyone. For instance, if one looks at the UnofficialTexMurphy Group on Frappr!, there are some regional clusters. For instance, in the MidWest Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky...There are six of us within a few hours drive from central Ohio. Maybe we could meet at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum. As you may recall, Wright-Patterson is where they took the remains of the Roswell spacecraft, and the bodies, I think. Plus, the Museum is really cool.
Something like that probably wouldn't be that difficult to work out.

well if enough people from all over can come that'd be awesome too... if people want to arrange small ones closer to their homes they'd be more than welcome to and we could figure out the webcam thingy... but i imagine that for most people who can travel easily that they'd wanna be there live if they can.
that sounds awesome! around march next year in slc. plus the st v (?) guy sounded like he had a hookup. that'd be ideal-- for someone who lives there to figure out the meeting places and help us pick out nearby hotels... any volunteers?
this will be great! (i didn't look it up but is mar. 7th on a weekend? that's what we need, i think, since most people have free time then).
woo!

Not sure when March 7th is... but it's actually March

Hey All. Been checking up on this message board for a loong time, just decided to join. Been a Tex 'follower' for 12 years. I'm a 3D film maker/game designer. I think this meeting next year sounds like a great idea, I never get the chance to meet people who actually know about Tex.
