Well, I found him using google. Course, I knew he lived about 30 minutes from my house so it was rather easy. I will call him on the morrow and see if I can catch a spare minute of his time. I'll let you know.

Tex Murphy dot com, wow, take me back. I was sad to see that he lost the site, but I'm glad that it's safe now, in my hands.
The level of help there was incredible, and the other offshoot boards, Alcatraz, Coit Tower were fun too. And you're helpful temporary one.
Come for the game, stay for the people, its really true, I've been slackin.

Please let me know when you hit the states Mat, cause the drinks are on me.

Place has always been good to me, here and on previous boards. Always a pleasure to log on, be it once a day or once a month depending on where life has taken me
Like Cub and Chris I've grown up around here. I have about as many memories from this community as I do high school, if not more.
Here's to good times had, and more to come

Kage, Dcat,
This post was put a while ago. Cubase did a very good job of providing a history lesson for everyone. See Page 2 of this post.

Thanks, Sam. I knew that post was floating around here somewhere, but couldn't remember where.

I agree - and reading Cub's history is interesting. I remember being a silent member watching this board long before my first post which I think was in 1998. I remember coit tower well and the radio theatre episodes that Chris and Cub worked on (from memory - apologies if wrong!). I still have them round here somewhere.
This community is something I love. I have really wanted to be able to invite all and sundry to my wedding and gave it serious thought, but then I figured that in reality, much as people are welcome to come, (1) there aren't that many in the UK (who are more likely to come) and (2) they won't know anyone else, nor other Tex fans who turn up.
But that's how much this site is a part of my life - there are a lot of people here on this site I have never met who I consider to be good friends and I would be honoured to share a beer or a bottle of wine with.

The feeling's mutual. My wife and I are always looking for a reason to hop across the pond. Too bad she's not allowed to travel right now or we would have tried to crash your wedding.

I've gotten close. I've made it as far as Barcelona. Just a little bit more and I could have made it to the home of Doctor Who, Stonehenge, Bangers and Mash, and James Bond. Sigh. Maybe someday.
I do have a slight excuse to get over there. My husband's sister moved to England. She married a local and had a baby. I could always argue, "Honey, we really should visit your sister sometime".
Would have loved to pay my respects but I'm sure you know we all wish you the best on the upcoming weddin' (that's what we call them in Texas).

True story: I visited Edinburgh last year, and while at Edinburgh Castle, I saw a fencing school teacher show off some ancient weaponry and tactics. He needed someone from the crowd to get a kilt and targe on, and to wave a sword about. The guy in front of me gets picked out; the fencing teacher asks him;
"What's yer name, Sir?"
To which the gentleman replies: "Donald McDonald."
"Ahhh, a proper scottish name! Well then Donald McDonald, surely ye've worn a kilt before!"
"Uhh, no sir, I'm from Texas."
Turns out he was a proper tourist over from Houston. What're the odds, eh?
Also, you're all invited to my wedding.
First point on the agenda - find a suitable female.
-Fred
