Well, I'm late to this discussion, but I think that Job A is/was the way to go. I had sort of a similar situation when I graduated from law school. Rather than take a job at a big firm making much more money, I went with a smaller firm. I have advanced faster at my firm than I might have in a bigger one and most importantly, I really like what I'm doing (well, as much as one can like work, I suppose). So, I guess I'm voting for the cliche that there's more to life than money. From what you've described, I think you're making the right choice. It sounds like you'll enjoy Job A more and that there may be more opportunities from Job A.

Job A by far was the best choice cub, I'm glad you made the right one. There is a good theory going around that High Cash Incentives for creative roles =! productivity- its very likely that Job B would have been a problem both for yourself and the employers because they assume that a person wants to make as much money as possible in the role they are in, but this only applies to maufacturing. Creative industries are very different, creative Freedom is more of a reward and the people come to work much more happier and motivated to do a good job.
I think you made a good choice.
Also in before someone posts a fight club reference... ok I'll do it.

Thanks everyone... got a funny update though...
Earlier today I get a call from someone working at Fox Studios... she said: "Hey, I think we have a position for you, what's your current status?". Why why why why why why!!!!!! GAHHHHHH!!!!!
You know, this is complete and utter proof that god DOES have a sense of humour! The good news is: they were happy to have me on board as a freelancer for evenings and weekends. Phew...

I've heard it said that God's sense of humor (and also of irony) is proven in nature:
