I would have taken Grim Fandango too. I put in a vote for the racing game Pod at one point; great game, but I haven't been able to get it to work on my newest computer (Vista issues, blah).
That is a really weird youtube video. It almost looks like a preview, so I'm wondering if this is a publicity stunt of sorts.

well they might find this added publicity could go against them as a lot of uses are going to be even more pissed off.

Seems like they planned for something to happen and then it's completely fucked up in the implementation. Aaron would have been the first to have been given a heads up given the money involved through their relationship.
there was no real money in the relationship - they only got about $2.00 a game
& a couple of times the tex series was going for 50% off.

Just watched the..."teaser"? I have to agree, if the events of the previous few days were to draw attention then it's pretty pathetic. What would have been wrong with reducing the website to a single page with words to the effect of "closing down for a major overhaul - tell your friends!"
It may not have attracted quite the same level of curiosity as a going out of business message, but they at least wouldn't have frustrated their current patrons.
I've been a huge fan since the beginning and have adored the memories i've been able to revisit with their selection of games. In fact, I got to the point where I was just a walking advertisement because I wouldn't stop talking to my friends about it until they checked it out for themselves.

The latest...
First of all we would like to apologize everyone who felt deceived or harmed in any way by us closing down GOG.com without any warning and without giving access to your games. We apologize for that from the bottom of our hearts!
Now it's time we put an end to all the speculations once and for all. It’s true that we decided that we couldn't keep GOG.com the way it was… so we won’t. As you probably know by now, GOG.com is entering its new era with an end of the two-years beta stage and we're launching a brand new GOG.com with new, huge releases.
The new GOG.com will launch at 8.00 a.m. EDT (2 p.m. CET). Later today we'll provide you here with 4 videos where you'll find all needed information about the current events, as well as news on the new GOG.com, the upcoming big releases and the summary of the last two years.

Interesting. I wonder if we'll still have access to games we've already purchased.

Man first the Big Finish Website vanishes and then GOG's. I can't take this emotional roller coaster this year. Nothing had better happen to this site, or I'll start thinking about joining Carl Linsky on the Golden Gate.
Definitely think GOG's stunt was very poorly executed. I have to admit I'm very pissed with them. If I could switch to another site I would. My temper will probably subside once the new website is up and running.

I'm not upset at all by this. In fact I haven't been effected in the slightest. I'm just glad they aren't gone for good.

What exactly is it that was wrong with the site that made them feel the need to shut it down??? I've used it many times, with the exception of needing the specialized downloading program, I didn't find anything wrong with the way the site was set up... It was easy to navigate and I never had a problem finding stuff...
I just don't get the whole situation... If it were a money issue and they couldn't afford to maintain the servers any longer or something like that, then I could understand, but that doesn't sound like the issue at all...
Am I mad at them, not really... Disappointed for how they are treating their customers and supporters, absolutely... Will I continue to use GOG once it is back up and running, of course provided they don't start thinking they are Game Stop or Best Buy and jack their prices through the roof...

all the rumours were right it was just for publicity.
the polish must have a warped sense of humour.

Well, I'm not that pissed, and like FreeP said, I'm just glad they aren't gone for good. I think this stunt was a little poorly executed; I'm sure there would have been a better way to pull a surprise on their customers. At least for now, I'm looking forward to seeing what new stuff they come up with.
