I watched 9. Awesome animation and a highly creative dark setting ultimately brought down by sub-par storytelling. I walked out feeling very disappointed.
That said, there is a stop motion movie called The Fantastic Mr. Fox that was previewed before it, and it looks interesting.

Want to see 9. From what I have heard from Vracar, among other people on review sites, I am not expecting much in the ways of storytelling, but more want to see it for the visuals.
I am sure in that respect I will not be disappointed.
To Baf. As far as Sex and the City goes, as men, I don't think we will be able to understand the wide lasting appeal to women, because we are not feminists.
I do have a little insight though, being the husband of a somewhat feminist wife.
(she kinda likes to pick and chose the from the feminist thinking)
Regardless I love her to death =)

I like Sex in the City. I think I'll stop there before I reveal too much.

It probably goes along the same lines on why most women don't like the Movie Stripes...

Saw Inkheart.
Was an alright movie. Not the best fantasy movie in the world, but okay to pass the time.
Some characters were a little stiff.

Not a film that I have seen, but more asking for a recommendation. I'm in the mood for an action film. I'm not fussed about story or acting, just action, something mindless for a change.
The films I had in mind was the latest Rambo film and Shoot 'em up. Can anyone recommend these? When I want action, I don't want anything sadistic or cruel, just a fun popcorn flick in the style of Transporter or classic Michael Bay.

I saw an amazingly interesting and unique movie today: Cold Souls
It stars Paul Giamatti, playing himself. An actor who is having difficulty handling his role in a Chekov play, Vanya. Real old-school Russian. Then he finds that there is a soul storage service where one can go to have their souls extracted and put into storage for later retrieval. It also turns out that, in Russian, soul extraction is less regulated than in the U.S. and there is a large black market for soul trafficking. Very unusual and imaginative film. Well acted.
One thing I found quite interesting: Although Paul Giamatti plays himself, he had to display a surprising broad range of acting ability to do it. Technically, he's not really playing himself. He's playing a character named Paul Giamatti who happens to be an actor. Anyway, it's kind of ironic that he had to display so much acting ability in order to play himself.

I finally got around to seeing Bound By Honor. Also known in some places as Blood In, Blood Out. Good movie.

Joel,
You would probably like Shoot 'em Up if it's just action you're looking for. It is a sort of action movie farce. That is, it was not intended to be taken seriously. It is one continuous, over the top, more than believable, all the action clee-shays (phonetic spelling) that is simply fast and fun.
I was looking over my movie list of the last two years, and have a few other suggestions of mindless, over the top non-stop action options for you:
Crank - High Voltage (or the original)
Gamer (still in theaters)
GI Joe - The Rise of Cobra (still in theaters)
Transporter (any)
Eagle Eye

Nice list. I've been meaning to check out the Transporter films and (guilty pleasure) I have been wanting to see GI Joe but nobody I know wants to see it. I might have to sneak in on my own there. Another one I want to check out is Duel. That comes accross as a great thriller that you don't have to think too hard about. I'm not in the mood to think at the moment, too much study and work!
Thanks, Dr

Doc, a friend of mine once asked me what Shoot'em Up was like. I told him that it was like a braindead action flick for intelligent people.
It's well-directed, which is all a film like that really needs. It's got a fluent motion to it and elements of cool that would only work in a film like that. And for those reasons, I really like it. It's different.

I don't know if this counts as a movie, exactly. Today, I was hanging out watching while a film crew was shooting some scenes for Red Dawn.
In case you didn't know, a remake of Red Dawn is in production and, apparently is being shot in Michigan.
One of my friends called me last night to tell me that the film crew was going to be at his house to shoot the scene in his backyard. It is a scene where a truck drives up the front lawn of one house, through some shrubs and a fence, through another fence into another yard, across a swimming pool, through another fence and shrubs and yet another, then, kicking up a lot of dust, speeds off down the street.
They first put up all these fake fences and shrubs and stuff, drove a camera truck through everything to get the driver's point of view shot. Then they cleaned everything up, put it all back together and drove through again for the exterior shot with cameras all over the place. A crane camera, a rooftop camera, chase camera, a dolly camera on tracks and a hand-held.
The setup was about five hours. The shots were each about ten to fifteen seconds.

A remake of Red Dawn... I remember my father talking about that, maybe a couple weeks ago at a family get together... I have some serious doubts about this myself... That movie was excellent the way it was...
