Where Eagles Dare was a classic, so also with Kelly's Heroes. Another old goodie for me (albeit no Clint Eastwood in it) is Guns of the Navarone.
Going back to Clint again - The Outlaw Josey Wales.
Oh man...
"You're wanted, Wales."
"Reckon I'm right popular. You a bounty hunter?"
"A man's gotta do somethin' for a livin' these days..."
"Dyin' ain't much of a livin', boy."

Man-a-live, Fred, you and I must be related.
Where Eagles Dare - excellent war film starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood with a great supporting cast. Really good movie.
Kelly's Heroes - my all time favorite war movie, even tho' they made it a bit hippyish. Still, fanatstic cast, great story line, tons of laughs and lots of shoot-em-up war action. Telly Savalas, Clint Eastwood, Don Rickles, George Savalas, Carroll O'Connor, Donald Sutherland and several others make for a rollickin' good time.
The Outlaw Josey Wales - my #2 all time favorite western after Good,Bad,Ugly. Your quote from the movie was one of my favs. Here's another one:
Lone Wadi: "I'm gonna miss that little girl. She bought us time to escape with her life."
Wales: "Yep! But it's always like that."
Wadi: "Like what?"
Wales: "Every time I get to likin' someone they ain't around for long."
Wadi: "I noticed that whenever you get to dislikin' someone they ain't around long either."
Or something close to that. Been a while since I watched it.
BTW, G,B,U was on AMC yesterday. They showed some scenes I have NEVER seen before. I sure would like to have a copy of that version. I have a DVD version of the movie with some deleted scenes but not the ones shown yesterday. However, via the deleted scenes I was able to get Angel Eyes' name in the movie - Setenza. But Eastwood's character never reveals his name. He soon became "The Man With No Name" and it stuck through two more movies. Great cowboy stuff.

Hmm, maybe you are my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-gr8-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great nephew? And I'm from the past?
Y'know, like in Futurama?
Anyways, yes, our preferences in cinema entertainment runs similar, I must acquiesce. And, no, I couldn't fit anymore difficult words in that sentence.
I never cottoned much to the John Wayne westerns though, not my type of film at all. Too plaincut, black and white, these-guys-are-good-and-these-guys-are-bad, happy ending-ish. I prefer the spaghetti westerns.
In fact, I've yet to see the other ones. You know, the Nobody and Trinity films. Have I missed out?

Jim, that's the same way with The Godfather Trilogy, the one they show on TV has all those Extra Scenes, but the DVD Gold Set that I picked up, doesn't have those extra scenes...
Then of course there is Scarface, "Say Hello To My Little Friend"... I did that at the Gun Range one time, the counter people were not impressed... lol

Hired and watched a Korean horror film called "A Tale of Two Sisters" a few days ago.
IMDb Page
Very decent film, very psychological and well thought out script. Got a tad confusing at times, but once you grasped the concept of what was going on (which took pretty much the entire length of the film to figure out) it was a pretty unique premise with a few cool twists.

Just watched The Jacket with Keira Knightley... Good Movie... It was different, that's for sure... Took a bit to grasp what was going on, but sometimes that's the best part of movies...
It's about a guy who is in a Mental Hospital and is being used to test a New Drug... He is put into a Jacket and then put into a Morgue Unit {one of those cabinets where they keep the bodies}, every time he is Injected with this drug... Every time he is Injected, his mind zaps to the future where he meets this lady and starts building a relationship with her, and he starts trying to find out what happen to him... I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, so I'll stop there...

I think I saw that at some point last winter with some friends of mine. The premise sounds very familiar indeed.
On an unrelated note, I just came home from a trip to Sweden with some friends (purely shopping trip) and came back with, among other things, the complete Season One of Heroes

Heroes is a good show... I don't think it will be returning this year though, probably not until Sept. or Oct...

I remember The Jacket from a few years ago. Pretty cool, but I do seem to recall, as you said, a little difficult to grasp what's going on. I think I may have seen it twice in order to check out my theories on it.
------
Last night I went to see Run, Fat Boy, Run. It was a comedy with Simon Pegg. Don't know if there are any Simon Pegg fans out there. Some of my daughter's friends are obsessed with Simon.
It's a VERY funny movie. At the beginning of the movie, Simon's character, Dennis, leaves his beautiful, pregnant bride (Thandie Newton) at the alter. Years later, he tries to win her back. Dennis is a great guy, but pretty much a loser and never finishes anything. He decides to change his life and run a Marathon as a sort of symbol of his new existence to win back his love (and mother of his son.) Some of his equally misanthrope friends help him to train, while others have maoney bet against him. Meanwhile, he must deal with his ex-bride's handsome, rich and athletic boyfriend. A must see for Simon Pegg fans. But if you're a fan, you've probably already seen it.

I saw Midnight Run recently, I saw it years ago as well, but it came on Starz recently... That is a great Movie...
Anyone who hasn't seen it... De Niro plays a Ex-Cop turned Bounty Hunter and he is sent to track down the Accountant of a Mobster and needs to return him to LA by Midnight 5 days from when he gets the case... Great Movie... I don't want to give too much away though...
Another Movie, not sure how you would get your hands on it, but it is a Bob Nelson movie called Brain Donors... That movie is Hilarious, if I get into a really down mood, I just need to pop that movie in and it will have me laughing my ass off in no time... You can get a copy on DVD for like 6 bucks on eBay...

Heroes is a very awesome show. Looking forward to it's triumphant return in October....watched 3 movies over the weekend...
Dan In Real Life...a very funny and sweet movie. I think Steve Carell is just a great actor.
Finally saw 1408....and I gotta say, I liked it. I really thought it was a truly f*$ked up movie. And I tend to like movies that are like that, the ones that seem to take a character on the most screwed up ride of their life....but only if it is done right..I've seen movies like this that just get totally botched when it comes to filming the idea of the story. But I thought this movie was good.
And lastly, saw Revolver..Guy Ritchie film starring jason Statham. Let me start off by saying that I was very excited to see this movie because of the aforementioned and also Ray Liotta who is just a brilliant actor. However, that being said, I was totally disappointed in the movie. I liked the idea of the movie, but a I just felt like the movie couldn't decided what it's identity was. Is it a revenge movie, is it a gang movie, is a psychological thriller? I wish it would have made up it's own mind before ending.
Any thoughts?

I didn't find Dan In Real Life all that funny... I found it to be more of a Chick Flick than anything else... I few parts with Dane Cook were funny, but the movie all around, I found to be more of a Suspense Drama type than a Comedy...

I know I haven't taken part in this thread that much, but what the hey, the tips of my fingers need a little itching... With that out of the way, has anyone seen the movie
Primer? If you're into Time Travel, or any concepts or theories surrounding that topic, I highly recommend this film to you. It starts off very simple, and by the quality and style it seems almost as if it could have been created with a close-to-zero budget. In other words, this film is a perfect example of how far story alone can get you. I've seen it about four times, and I'm still a bit confiused...let me explain. There are these guys who work for some scientific company during the day, and then pursue their own scientific experimentation in their garage at night. A couple of the guys drop out, but eventually the other two have some breakthrough and create a device that can send things back in time. After much contemplation they themselves travel back in time and play the stock market - innocent enough, but eventually greed takes over and the dudes start going behind eachother's back, trying to trick one another. Everything goes to hell, and I won't reveal the big twist - definately worth watching if you like to rack your brain and try to make sense of things
Does this fulfill my monthly post quota?

You've out done yourself...
Okay, I just watched that New Predator Vs. Alien movie... It wasn't bad, but it was Awfully Dark... Don't watch it with any lights on, you won't be able to see half the movie... Lets just say they didn't go all out for Acting Ability for this one... I was kind of disappointed... I only recognized the one Actor in the movie and he was from the Show Rescue Me on FX... I expected better quality...
