Better quality for something called Alien Versus Predator? They probably only made the sequel by spending as little money as possible on the cast.

Yeah, but after the Quality of the First 2 Predator Movies and the First 4 Alien Movies and the First Alien Vs. Predator, I just expected a lot more out of the 8th movie, know what I'm saying??? Just didn't seem right for it to be of such low end quality after all the hype...

Oh well... Sometimes it's better to leave things alone I guess...

After I saw the first Alien movie, I slept with the light on for a long time. It scared the crap out of me. So when the second Alien movie came out, I remember that I was literally shaking before the movie started because I was so nervous due to my memory of the first. Boy was I disappointed. Alien 2 was not scary at all. Neither was three. I didn't even bother to see the 4th one, and you know, I see everything.

As for the original Predator, what a cast! Every tough guy in the universe was there including, of course, Arnold. I loved Predator. Although Predator 2 was ok, I thought it paled in comparison to the "I ain't got time to bleed" first one.

Then there's Alien vs Predator. I thought the first one was ok, but pretty thin, even for the action-horror genre. However, I thought AVP2 was far superior. In my opinion, it had more scope, more depth, more interesting characters and even the Predator and Alien creatures had personality!

So I gotta say, of the Alien, Predator and AVP series, only AVP improved with the sequel.

I am a die-hard fan of Aliens. I won't deny it. I love every action-packed and suspenseful scene.

But I will concur with you Doc, compared to the first one it ain't scary. But I don't think it was supposed to be either. It's an action-film. And that's okay, as long as it's done right. And we gotta agree on the fact that as an action-film, Aliens does good.

But yeah, the first one's a scary bitch, no two ways about it. I usually see everything coming in most films, but Ridley Scott's a genius. He surprised even me. And I consider myself pretty hard to surprise (when it comes to horror flicks at least)

I love them both. I hate the 3rd and have no real opinion of the 4th. It has too much of that Joss Whedon humor, and I don't feel it fits with the Alien-universe. Like Weyland-Yutani getting bought up in a corporate take-over by Walmart... Geez...

But c'mon... "How do I get out of this chicken-$#it outfit?"

As for Predator? Forget about it. I completely agree with Dr. Paul. It's hands down one of the best action films ever.

So AvP2 is good, eh? Will have to give it a gander then. Been avoiding it like it had the leprosy until now.

Actually, I thought the first Alien Versus Predator was one of the worst movies ever made. Hell, the Predator played charades with the main character to explain his bomb.

I just finished "Unknown" the other day, and I figured I'd bring that one up. If you haven't seen it, it's about five (or six?) guys waking up in a warehouse with amnesia. One is tied to a chair, the other handcuffed to a rail, and nobody knows who is who, or how or why they got there. I really enjoyed this movie. I loved the premise, and this is the kind of movie that just screams "plot twist" ... Check it out, if you haven't.

Since you guys are talking about Alien vs. Predator...I have to ask...has anyone seen Split Second with Rutger Hauer? That movie was a freaking beast. I loved it...

Okay, you have your opinion, I have mine... I've liked the movies up until this last one... Very Dark, I had to turn out all the lights, because any other light source made the movie pretty much non-visible... Like I said about the Acting I only noticed the one person in it, everyone else were unknown...

I just think they could have put a bit more into it, that's all...

I'm going to watch the remake of the "Day Of The Dead" tonight, hopefully that is better quality... At least I know a couple of the names that are in it like, Mena Suvari and Ving Rhames...
I'll report back on it after I've watched it...

Okay, Watched "Day Of The Dead", the 2008 remake... It was better than Alien Vs. Predator Part 2, I can at least say that much...
Unless you are a Mena Suvari fan, I wouldn't suggest wasting your time with this movie...

I've also got these guys to back me up. :)

Also, most of the predators in that movie were weak. They showed up and got their asses handed to them within the first fight scene.

The Predator in AVP2 rules!

He goes it alone and takes on several Aliens at a time. Man, he's got some cool weapons. Another thing that's kind of interesting in AVP2 is that there is one mutant Alien that is almost half Predator. Very nasty!

Cub - "My Name is Nobody" is a bit corny but full of funny moments and some cool "fast-draw" work. With Henry Fonda as an aging gunfighter trying to leave the USA for Europe, he continually runs into a kook played by Terrence Stamp (Nobody). Also, there's a scene in a saloon that is not only funny but will probably make your head spin. In fact, there was a commercial on TV not too long ago fashioned after that scene.

Baf - "Midnight Run" was a terrific movie. Funny, full of twists and turns, and a great ending, not to mention superb acting by an all-star cast. It's funny you mentioned it; I saw the whole movie last night and went to bed smiling.

Another cool western is The Wild Bunch. I highly recommend it.

I liked the First Alien Vs. Predator a lot more than the second... The second was very dark and hard to see on TV without having all the lights off, normally I don't watch TV that way... That's just the way I am...

Ending Spoiler, if you haven't watched, don't read...

As for the Predator in the Second one, I have to agree with Doc, he was bad ass all the way, getting the distress call from the other ship, heading out there all alone to kick ass... If it hadn't been for the Nuke he would have conquered all, because he killed the Hybrid before the Nuke destroyed the town...

As for the movie all around, AVP2 just wasn't what I was expecting...

As for the first one, I liked the storyline about how the Predator taught humans how to build and the pyramid of the first civilization and all about how they used the pyramid as a "Coming Of Age, Rights Of Passage" type of thing...
